Need Help on Transmission Oil

I finally decided to change trans oil, Being the only argo in this town, I guessed it took 80 90 gear oil, but when I drained it, I got some gold colored oil Ive never seen before.
Does anyone have oil suggestions? Or a better way to drain the oil as well?

80/90 is what I use, and sometimes I remember to add a bit of "limited Slip Additive".
Not sure what oil would be gold? Was it a gold "shine" as though it had a lot of Brass particles in it?

Some guys drain into a Zip-Lock bag.
I have a modified 5gal pail, I made a hole in the lid to poke my Shop Vac hose into, then attached another SV hose to the spout of the pail with a short extension into the pail. Basically it makes a "wet trap" in the SV line. Torn the SV on and suck the oil into the pail as it comes out the drain hole.

I don't know about gold but mine looked a bit silver looking before. Also rock doctors shop vac and gas can trick is awesome! Takes a bit to get it all out but I just turn it on and go inside for awhile. Works great on the engine oil too.

After letting the old oil sit for the night, I know its not brass or anything in the oil, it hasnt sank or seperated. Ive seen synthetic oils with the same look, but purple. But thanks for the shop vac and bucket trick. The ziplok bag didnt work too well.

OK, I must say that the idea is not mine, I learned of it here on this awesome site. I just modified the "Gas Can" idea to work for a 5gal Pail (didn't want to damage a perfectly good Gas Can, lol)

Here is a pic


The Black Shop Vac Line goes into the pail about 2 inches, and the nozzle on the Gray Line goes into the pail about 5-6 inches. Turn the SV on, and anything you suck up with the Gray line goes into the pail, and drops to the bottom.

images[3].jpgArgo offers an Oil change vacuum pump for around $50.00 bucks. These are great for changing the oil in the engine as well, just stick the hose down the dipstick tube and suck away!!! Argo part number is 638-02... Not a bad deal considering you don't even need to pull the drain plug in most cases..
