  • Hd camo issue

Well i'm looking for some help/input on an issue with my new HD6X6. Its a 2012 I baught in April. Had some "normal" issues and bugs local dealer was great fixing. However, I was recently cleaning my machine and noticed some debris under rubber bumper that covers tub and top connection/rivets. When I lifted slightly, I noticed the laminate on top cover was blistered and peeling all the way around perimeter? I showed dealer and he spoke with ODG. They called me direct and said they have known about this for six years or so {whenever real tree option came out?} and said no big deal?? They claim that top body is heat pressed except for an inch or so around perimeter and therfore peels? They ctually told me to use a box cutter and trimm off damaged area and since {right now} its "hidden" no big deal I can see already some areas of peeling that show no signs of stopping? My long winded question is: Has anyone else hadthis issue with real tree camo laminate? Has anyone had it extend beyond bumper trim up side wall? I'm trying to be patient but, if this was a matorcycle {NEW} and tank paint was chipping/peeling {even if hidden by seat} I'd expect manufacturer to replace/repair? I'm thinking of requesting a black or tundra green top for replacement as the color is not laminated on. Any feedback is much appreciated!!

    Thanks

yuck~ especially when you pay more for the camo pattern! I'd expect it to better as good or better, not more of a flaw. Keep us posted.

When you get a chance, post the pics on here too please. I wouldn't mind taking them into my own argo dealer just to hear what they say or if they have any idea about this issue.

I would be very up set too.You would think that they would use the camo dip process,I would think that would save them money in the long run and it holds up a lot better than the wrap.Sounds to me like they are taking the cheap route.Hope you get it straightened out.Good luck.

A buddy of mine has a newer 750 with a camo top, we noticed the same thing but only under the bumper (not sure if it was as bad as yours). He was told that it was due to the rough cut edge used to trim the top to the lower body and that this is why they used a rubber bumper to finish off the edge nicely. They also said as long as he didn't tamper with the bumper it wouldn’t be a problem. His 750 is a few year old now and has no issues, it never flaked off outside the rubber bumper. He was also told that if it ever became an issue that they would take care of it. I'll see if I can dig up some recent pictures to post so you can compare..

Thanks for the feedback guys! I will hopefully have some pics up soon of peeling issue as I need to send ODG some more photos. This machine has less than 20hrs and garage kept. The "dont mess with bumper" issue the advised doesnt work cuz where I ride, the water/ mud fills in under bumper. thats how i found peeling when

sorry, sausage finger hit enter! anyway i found it when i was cleaning and saw mud under bumper. gently peeled back to clean and there it was, around entire perimeter under bumper and extending beyond rivets in some areas with no signs of stopping. Im just doing some homework before i try and fight town hall "ODG" to step up and fix issue. This would be unnaceptable on any new motorized vehicle. For some reason, due to vast distance of actual manufacturer location, and the thinking that none of us will ever be able to talk to others across country/world, they give cold shoulder. I will go the distance with them if I need to. Perhaps this is all for not and when they get more photos {dealer sent one only he took} they will honor as an actual defect. My concern again is new camo laminate will do same thing. So, I wanted to see if I need to demand a "solid" color like blk or tundra green. Thanks again!

Update on camo top issue. Apparently the peeling my machine dsiplayed was much worse than the "expected" flaking under bumper due to rough cut. They heat seal the laminate camo onto top but do not heat seal around about 1" which typically is not a problem {from what i'm told}. However, my peeling continued beyond bumper and up onto body. ODG reviewed photos i sent to dealer and they agreed to replace top. I went with tundra green as this is not a laminate. Loved the camo but, don't want to go through this again. Being replaced as we speak and will get some before and after pics too. Dealer was nice enough to throw in a new brush gaurd too! which helps ease the anger... Thanks fot the feedback

Let me know if the other guy actually picks it up and replaces the top. I saw it and it looked like it was going to be a pain the ass to put the new one on. It didnt have any of the badges or anyting on it so they would all have to be taken off the old one and re-rivited on the new one. It seems like the customer service at argo is a joke. Has any one had a bad experience with Max that is similar to this?

Hey Chris- out of Maine and off to VT??? The rivets were "forgotten" to be ordered by dealer as was a section that matches inside tub which was ordered {so i;m told?}. I was told today it will be ready for drop off Sunday. As far as I'm concerned, this is their last chance to make a BRAND NEW machine right once and for all. I will let you know when I get her back and we can get out hopefully before things freeze up in Maine? Take care
