  • Avenger tranny disassembly?????

Tranny is leaking on a 2010 non-HDI avenger. Trying to pull it apart, but seams there is something holding it together, got it about 1/2" apart then seems stuck. Removed all snaprings on the outside shafts, is there something on the inside?? I know these bearings are press fit but it seams to be more than that.

I have not done an Avenger Tranny, but any of the others I've taken apart were difficult to split due to the slight interference fit on the bearings.
Let us know the outcome, and how you make out.

Make sure all the bolts are out and remove the shifter should be 4 bolts then there is a seal you have to remove and under that seal there is a snap ring that should do it i think there is 11 bolts on one side and 4 on the other that tranny also has jacking bolts to help with dissasembly but be careful

And of coarse remove all snap rings the seal that has to be removed to see the snap ring is the input shaft

I think this is the one, I have not pulled this seal yet. Let you know tomorrow, I'm sure now this is whats holding it back, don't want to break it as it's not mine.

Problem was the diff wanted to come with and that forced the gears over, as the diff has the large crown gear on one side, meaning you have to make sure you pull on the right side. The snapring behind the input shaft seal does not fit on the shaft so that was not the problem.
It fits into the outside of the housing to keep the bearing in. The gears in the diff started to pit, which means the 350 hrs on the gauge is obviously not right.

When i pull these apart i pull the case from the side of the input shaft side i remove the snap ring under the seal and the bearing stays on the shaft yeah your tranny may have more hours than it reads
