I have a 2000 bigfoot. The double chain from the centre wheel to the front wheel is so thight that it has not play at all and squeeks. The tensioner is up full. The argo dealer says it needs a new chain. The does not seem right to me as I understand the chain will streech not get shorter and tighter.

release the tensioner with a pry bar and see how stretched it is always good to soak the adjusters with penetrateing oil so they don't lock up

Lift the machine and then check your chain. While up check the bearingson that side inside and outside. I had a front chain jump a sprocket it was so loose. When i got a new chain i fought to connect it. did all this with machine on the ground..wrong! when I went to redo all the bearings and chains turns out the same frontaxle had a blown apart inner bearing and the idler axle had a blown out bearing. These allowed so much play in the fron axle that after a short ride that new chain was loose again. I would also get alot of noise from the right side drive and a clunking noise when turning left. after redoing the bearings and chains all odd noise disappeared. Just a thought.
