While greasing the axle bearings on my 750efi recently i reckoned most of the grease was exiting around the pressed bearing retainer rather than into the grease drilling in the bearing. After turning the bearing to align the grease port with the grease nipple in the plate and a bead if sealant the grease now goes into the bearing.Im expecting this will extend the bearing life considerably

Getting grease into the axle bearing

I have my bearings aligned the same way, and it does appear to help with getting grease into the bearings. Care should be used though, I've had the grease push the outer seal away from a few of my bearings. That would be hard to notice if greasing bearings through the rims when tires are mounted.
