Lost my hood on the way home last night and would like to get another one but there is no way on earth I am going to pay $350 for a plastic hood. What gives with the insane prices they are asking for the Argo hoods? Is their a place to buy a hood at a sane price or should I just start making a new hood out of Aluminum?

Are talking about the hood on ebay? ARGO Conquest, HOOD also will fit on Response, Bigfoot, Vanguard Vanguard 2 NEW | eBay That is Richard Clark over at route6x6. So that is why it is $345 + shipping. I would just make one out of aluminum.

This is exactly why I tell everyone to AVOID RICHARD CLARK/ROUTE6X6. His prices are absolutely ridiculous! I've bought complete machines for less than he wants for just that hood. This is a perfect example of why everyone should avoid doing any sort of business with him. He's only there to make big bucks off the 6x6 community, not help promote it like all the good people on 6X6World do.

There are almost no Argos in Texas and every time I go to an off road park people swarm me. They are in total amazement at what they can do and always ask where they can buy one. I have Adair tracks on my Conquest so it will go anyplace I point it and make it look easy. I know for a fact that people have bought Argos because of me and I will make sure they never use Richard Clark.

I had my HD pro camera mounted on my conquest and I drove into pudding mud and pulled our two different modified 4wheelers while I was in the pudding mud, no one thought I had a chance of pulling them out unless I got on hard ground. I can not say enough good things about the Adair tracks and they are worth every penny! I need to figure out how to upload HD video so I can share with you guys

I know what you mean about drawing attention. Every time I ride, I spend quite a bit of time talking to folks about my machines. Its kinda funny because my Argo draws more attention than my other machines.
I pulled a 4 seat Polaris Ranger out of a swamp awhile back that was highly modified and three four wheelers had attempted to group pull him out but failed. My Argo just about fast idle pulled that machine out, and thats when those folks dropped their jaws.
I know Argo is very proud of their hoods. You may want to consider making a hood out of expanded metal. It gets hot here in Texas, and I've long considered building a hot weather hood.

Oh well they can keep their hood I will make one. The Conquest is just one of my toys, I also own an airboat and it requires that I be able to work with aluminum. I will fab up a new hood out of aluminum and it will be much nicer than the Argo hood anyway.

Now you see why people put a bunjie cord over there hood. Last one I priced was close to $500 by the time it was in my hands.Was also a wait for a run at the factory to get my color. Made one out of aluminum.

Richard's Argo hood is a good option for those wanting a quality replacement hood for less than OEM. If you had any idea of the investment required to mold and produce that hood, you'd wonder how a price of just $350 each was worth the effort. I wouldn't do it, and no one else has either.
Early this year, just before Richard's aftermarket hood was available, I paid nearly $500 DEALER PRICE for an Argo hood for a Bigfoot. The factory has to make a whole upper body to get a hood which is a lot of waste, not to mention the labor required to prepare the mold and hood itself. Last I heard, availability of a new Argo hood was questionable and they may be discontinued. An Argo with no hood or home made hood will lose more money upon resale than the $500+ it would take to buy a new hood.

This is exactly why mine has hood pins to secure the hood.I also put a locking pin under the seat bottom,now I dont have to worry about seat or hood while traveling.It is a shame ODG couldnt have thought this thru,ALOT of hoods and seats wouldnt have blown off or out over the years.

I am over it now, I will just make a new hood out of Alum. It is not the cost of the hood either, I will waste more than this in rubber doing burnouts on Friday night at the track. With me it is all about getting screwed, and $370 for a plastic hood 25"x26" is Bullsheet.

Getting screwed is exactly what would be happening here. The good option in this case is saving A LOT of money and making your own hood.
