  • Question on Used ARGO

Found a 1994 ARGO Conquest for sale. It's dark green in color with a fiberglass hard top. The doors and 'hatchback' of the hardtop can be quickly removed. Then, by lowering the windshield it transforms into an open cab vehicle with only the front half of the hard top remaining to keep you out of the sun. It has a new winch with remote lead. The engine, transmission, chains, sprockets, bearings are all in like new condition. The frame has no rust, not even missing paint. It has 108 acutal hours. No, rips, tears, body damage, or anything apparent.

Here's the rub...the tires are absolutely shot. The Goodyear Runamuckers are hard to find. What tire is a good replacement? How much is the vehicle worth?

Without a second thought I would put 24" Frontier Tires on it. If you want to stick with 22" tires, then get the 22" version of the Frontiers
24" Frontiers are about 160$ each, which is stupidly expensive, but it is what it is.

That machine would be worth about 5,000$ in my area

I'll second RD on this. The 24" Frontier Tires make a world of difference vs. the rawhide III 22" tires I had. Completely different machine, no longer get stuck on stuff like I used to, No longer do I get logs stuck between tires, I can easily drive up beaver dams from both sides, it swims much faster too. Increased ground clearance is a plus too.

If I had it to do over again and my used 8x8 didn't come with tracks, I'd spend the $$ and get adair tracks. I've never even driven on them (mine are plastic) but from what I hear, you won't be disappointed. Good luck either way. And I agree, $5000 is what I'd expect around these parts as well. Maybe $6k.

I've got a set of new 24s with new wheels sitting in my attic to go on my 200 hour conquest.
