  • HMS BeefEater shakedown ride...

took the SC out for its first real test ride, and my first real test ride on a attex...im still sore. the sc didnt have ANY bottom end, would just bog down and finnaly over heated due to lack of air moving accross the cylinders.. the belt seemed too long, could pinch it together between the clutches and still had plenty slack. its the stock belt .....anyone have this issue? the machine is stock exept for the drive clutch, it came off of micmac's 440...could there me a clutching difference? i can see why these never cought on out here...with out suspention its murder on the rocky roads and trails

The belt play is probably a huge part of the problem. I'm guessing you should have no more than 1 1/2 deflection in the belt when static. Also that G50 B is never going to be a low end torque engine as you know like a 4 stroke would be. I'd start with getting a belt that fits well and go from there

Also just saw about the engine overheating. I'm sure you checked but make sure your fan belt is in good condition. I think George melted a G50B when the fan belt broke on his

i agree with you completely on the belt issue..it barely climed out of the pond when it hit the mud bank.i'll do some measuring and check the local napa..they are carrying a new line of drive belts. i'm not totally sure if it did overheat, it might have been the belt just being tto long and not shifting all the way down , i was pulling a trailer and had 2 kids in it, climbing a steep, rocky road....on another parts issue Mike, word is you might know where to get a choke cable for the SC.....
