I believe you were correct with Attex Thunder Chief you posted in an earlier thread. The Super Chief is a Poly Body machine and the Thunder Chief is an ABS bodied machine. You are in prime location to do an Attex restore. RI is just up in Buffalo and still makes the T-20 transmission and there are many members running Attex's in the general area. The design is very simple and parts are easily sourced or fabricated. Can't wait to see some better pics than what was in the ad.

You're right, I don't know why I said Super Chief.

Was this the Thunderchief off Pennswoods classifieds? It looks like a 1974-75 model. This is an excellent machine for a restoration project, and it was one of the fastest production AATVs made at the time.

I don't think so but I don't know for sure. As far as I know it is a 75. I will no more when I dig into it. My goal is to "restore" it and bring it back to as close to the original thing as I can.

I've got parts, and so does Drew, and many other folks on the site. We'll be happy to help you get it back to its former glory. I can also tell you that many, many 6X6World members get bearings, chains, and other drive parts from the guys at Buffalo Bearings. Their number is (716) 874-1720. Tell them you're with 6X6World and you're rebuilding a 6 wheeler and they'll take extra good care of you. If you need transmission parts you can still get them directly from Recreatives. Whatever you do, never ever deal with Richard Clark/Route6x6. He has burned many, many, many new folks to the 6x6 hobby and he should be avoided at all costs. He sells inferior quality parts at ridiculous high prices, he has horrible customer service, his shipping and "handling" prices are through the roof, and he's very misleading. Just a heads up so you don't get taken by him.
Keep us updated on the progress of your rebuild. We love seeing vintage machines being restored!

Hey Smudvapor, how's it goin? I got my Hustler from a guy about 1/4-1/2mi south of the entrance to Yankee Lake. I can't remember his name though. I left a Scrambler still with him. I don't know if he still has it or not. Just thought I'd share that.

Joe.
It is going good. I have my Thunderchief torn apart, the frame is all done and repainted. Bearings on their way, tires arrived today, gas tank and axles on their way. I have some body work to do and some cleaning and then the big one that is left is engine and transmission. I want to go to the meet in June.

That is the plan. If you hear of anything, let me know, I really want to try to make it as original as possible.
I know 6X6World member egoperf has a nice JLO 400 that would bolt right in with a clutch and everything all set to go. This is the engine that would be in a 400 Chief, but down the road you could always bolt on 440 jugs and heads onto the 400 bottom end. That's what I did with my 440 Thunderchief racer.

I bought this last month. This is where I am at so far. I am waiting for some points to come and then once the engine is running I am going to move on to the body.
