  • Beater Attex

Im putting together with help of my kids a beater Attex. I need something to drive so I"m not tearing up my trainer any more. This machine was the most complete Attex of my collection so I picked it. Its also known as my Attex little lil truck. It never got completed done. Still need to figure the bed out. I think I am going to redo the upper body back rest part to something different too. The seam didnt hold up well. I sold the engine that was in it so I'm planing on using the Tecumseh HM100 with electric start. Dont laugh at the smaller engine. It will perform everything I want it too. It seems really small but you would be surprised what they can do.

Today was rainy and I usually dont have time after work to do much so thats a bummer. But I got it home yesterday. Today I put a few axles, sprocket and chains in and swapped the balloons out for some good years rawhide terras. The belts not the best but Im going to use it. I have to mount engine yet. Figure out a throttle for it and a little fuel tank and should be good to go at least. Other minor things I will fix as I get time to. Looks kinda stealthy mean with these tires and the lower profile. lol

Ok ran into problems. The 10 HP tecumseh couldnt keep a good idle. Its a stupid epa non adjustable carb. I tore it apart and cleaned it and ran the same. Runs great at anything more then an idle. So I yanked her out and going to find an older carb for it some day. Today I ground that engine mount apart and welded on a new plate for mounting motors. Drilled some holes for a 13hp honda. It sure is a smooth quite running motor. Probably should have dont that anyways. Its sits a tad higher with the aircleaner, muffler and tank like they are. The base of motor is probably a tad more then an inch from the frames lower part of the channels thats basically sits on the plastic. So its low, guessing about 1 1/2" from bottom. And it just so happen that with belt lined up the motor seemed perfectly centered. Look at valve cover bolt and hitch in one of the pictures. I ran it around a bit with no throttle cable. I have the wrong clutch on it so it dont top out that fast. The clutch needs a wider belt. But it seems like it will do the job nicely. Another bonus is Little LarryW can start this one with the rope.

It seems finding time to work on it during the week is just about impossible. So thats all until next sunday.

Looks like your having fun with this one Larry.
I see now the three mounting points your engine plate bolts to, little different than mine.

I didnt really do much to it today. I adjusted trans and put a metal plate on back so I dont melt the tub from the exhaust. I did run it around. I still need a throttle cable hooked up. But with a fixed throttle I can up it a little from an idle and let my youngest learn to drive it without him going to fast. He has drove an Argo 8x8 with handlebars and spent a little time on a MaxIV but couldnt really give it any gas because the throttle was to hard for him. He was also having a hard time pulling the sticks back with them being spring loaded. So today was his first Attex run. He learned the stick controls well.
