  • chain rides on body?

Im working on a recent 500 chief i bought, and while cleaning out the belly of the attex i noticed that the rear chains slightly rub on the bottom of the body. They are tight, but seem to just sit on the body. Is this normal or is something wrong. After taking the floor out it looks like it has never been cleaned and must have sat under a tree. I degreesed and pressure washed it out. Looks good and clean now. Going to lube chains and grease joints and such tomorrow. Going to Dune fest in july and would like it ready to go. Any help would be great. thanks all.

Jack it up off the ground, and then tighten the rear chain tensioner using the nut on the end of the tensioner. It may actually be more towards the middle, but it's behind the rail that the tensioner goes through. If the nuts all the way tight (tensioner pulled back as far as possible), it's probably time for new chain.

i am sure that Drew will tell you to jack up the side that you are adjusting,or the whole machine, otherwise adjusting does not work.

Correct. Either jack up one side and adjust it, then the other, or get all 6 off the ground at the same time and just adjust them all at once.
