        yellow top batteries

great details and hints on batteries and el. trolling motors. Questions, please: 1. Which specific yellow top to get? 2. Has anyone turned the handle (top) of the el. motor around so one can mount it in front and has it pushing rather then pulling? Thanks for the input.

            Bought a blue top

Tracmaster, I bought an Optima blue top last weekend and am about to buy my motor mount or transom from Argo. I looked at the blue top and it's about the same specs as the yellow top but was like $10 cheaper at Costco. I think I paid $155 for it. We have no sales tax in Anchorage but I did have to pay a $9.00 core deposit on it. What do you think of the blue top?? It looks to be the same size as the yellow top but a bit cheaper which may be an option also.

I think (I know dont hurt my self) Optima changed there line up, my yellow tops have screw mounts but a freind bought his from Costco and could not hook hem up to his camper becouse they had no screw mounts and the only other diffrence was mine are 6yrs old. so he had to get blue tops. were my blue tops only say rv and marine his new blue tops say they are starting to. so Optima must have stream lined there batterys, so you dont have to look for yellow top with light gray or darker gray sides.

                Optima blue top

I think my blue top has both the old lead posts and some studs with wing nuts on them, I don't know about the screw in's on the side or top. I'll have to check. That's another thing, I need to check the Minn Kota to see how they hook up to a battery. I may be taking it back if either of the blue top hookups don't work.

                        50 LB

I was on E-Bay bidding on 50lb. minn kota 100.00 plus 30.00shipping not bad. Then I checked Wal Mart 199.00 for the same one, so I'll go with the new one for 60.00 more and if it doesn't work I can take it back. Hi cougar; Just a couple questions.
What kind of speed and length of operation can you expect from this unit? Is there some past experience with these on you amphib? What type of battery are you using or plan to utilize for this?

I have one(Trolling motor) on my 87 Bomber. I never ran the battery down but then again i am not the avid fisherman that most are.

                          Thanks

                              battery

If I remember right a guy at a battery store told me a Optima battery cant exept a fast charge it will kill them they are considerd a deep cycle and a fast charg will kill them faster than a slow charge. like i said im not 100% positive on this.

I have been running optima batteries for quite some time now! I have charged them fast at 75A with no trouble! Be careful of the auto parts store guys. They rarely know as much as they think! I used all different kinds of batteries when I worked installing stereo's, and optima is by far the toughest. They will take a beating like nothing else.
