  • New to the board and a new build for us!!

Hows it going everyone. Figured I'd put up a post to say hi since I'm new to the board here and tell about our new project.

My team and I decided that it was time to do up a 6x6. In the past we've put a 750 street bike engine in a 400ex atv chassis and turbo charged 3 cylinders in snowmobiles. A few days ago we purchased an Attex 6x6 from ebay. (actually going to pick it up on Sat the 5th) I don't even know the model. Maybe someone can identify it from the pic below. Anyway, this machine is in the works to be powered by a Polaris Liberty 600cc snowmobile engine rated at 125 - 130 hp before modification. Should be pretty interesting when done.. The 6x6 will get a complete overhaul, paint, powder coat, upgraded parts where needed for the additional hp.

Were pretty excited about this build and anything that you guys know that will make it go smoother would be appreciated.

Welcome to the site! That should be one quick 6x6. Use this thread to keep everyone here updated on your project as you go with pictures and info. It will be interesting to watch the buildup and we will definitely need some video when you get it completed of a high speed run

              Hi!

Welcome to the site! I have been actually looking at a future build not too far off from this (powerfull engine +Attex), even though I am not done with my first 6-wheeler (these aren't addictive, are they?), but I would recomend considering a springer kit from Whipper if funds/time would allow. 100+ HP makes for high speeds, and no suspension may lead to odd feelings in your lower back and legs, not to mention cracking the ABS and who knowes what else. If not, let me know, I know a very good chiropractor.

Welcome to the boards, and congratulations on picking up the Attex. I was watching that machine on ebay as well. I'm guessing it's a 297 model- looks like an ATV5000 transmission. You may find that you'll have to upgrade the transmission if you go to a hi-po engine; the 5000 has a 3/4"outer shaft and they tend to break under heavy stress. Have fun with the project!

Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

                (6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far

If you want to save some money, just post here in the wanted section. You might be surprised at the amount of parts that the members here have along with the advice that the Attex experts (one of which posted directly above me) on this board can give.

                          Attex 297 with a JLO 297...

So we picked up our 6x6 over the holiday weekend. After going through it I have found it to be a 1969 Attex Model 297 with the power 5000 transmission. It came originally came with a JLO 297 engine from what I have found... Anyway we were going to throw a 600cc Polaris snowmobile engine into it but I'm thinking we need to out that engine into a 6x6 that already has a T-20 transmission setup.

So what was the hp on the JLO 297 engine that came with this machine from the get go?? Were going to have to purchase a engine to put in this Attex so what would be a good replacement with GOOD power that the transmission will handle??

As you can see my buddy and dog are pretty stoked about it!!
