  • Finally got one!

Drove out to Norwalk, Ohio last night after work to look at that ST-295 that was on Craig's List. Aside from a very bad crack in the left rear of the lower hull, the machine was/is very clean and in surprisingly very good condition. It is definitely worthy of restoration. Worked a deal with the seller and am going back out tonight to pick it up and bring it home.

Very excited about this. The only machine that I ever owned was an old Scrambler Mk XII and that was about 25 years ago. Been wanting another (better) vehicle for a long time and just couldn't pass this one up. Have always loved and admired the Attex. Will post photos after I get it home.

The worst of the damage to the lower hull. This is the left rear corner. I'm confident that what I've learned from you guys that this can be fixed...

Is there a way to determine the year of manufacture from the serial number?

Nice machine, but I think the dash decal may be from an earlier model. I don't remember the ST295 ever having the ID on the decal. It certainly doesn't change the value of the machine, though. You've almost got ready-made A stock racer there!

Thanks you guys. Happy to report that the machine, as of two weeks ago, has been moved to my friend's garage down in Southern Ohio and that's where it's going to stay for the time being. Total restoration is planned, but I've been working on an old, early Attex body of his for the last couple of weeks and plan on posting a thread of all the repairs that I've done to it as soon as I can get the time. Total success with the ABS goo. The old body is looking really good and is super-strong where it counts. Thanks for all of your help on that. This one will never be an A Stock racer, but will be brought back to life for sure. All in time... "Froggy" (the old one) gets done first.
