  • 208 tt attex restoration

Hi everyone, I am new to this so bear with me. I am restoring a early 208 tt and need some help. I have removed the entire frame from the body and have removed the out side bearing one the jack shaft along with the outside half's of the planetary. How do you remove the pinion gear from the shaft? I am retired and have a full welding and machine shop to build anything I need but I'm sure someone could share what I need. Just don't want to tear up the gear needlessly. Thanks in advance

    Cool project, maddogruff.

You may want to replace the inner frame rails with something a little more substantial while you have it apart, I'm sure you've noticed how thin and weak (and probably bent) they are.

If you support the transmission shaft by the inner disc, you can press or drive the disc, gear, and inner races off all at once by pressing on or driving down the end of the shaft, then flip it over and do the other end. My press won't set up to hold the shaft with the discs installed, so I use a pair of jack stands with some 3/4" square tubes spanning across them. There's just enough room to suspend the end with the driven clutch. A big brass drift doesn't mar up the end of the shaft when driving it out. I think all the bearings for that unit are still available from Motion Industries.

    Good Luck!

how do you post pics. Thanks Don for the info, I was concerned there was snap ring under the pinion gear to bearing and yes the inside frame material is to thin and will be either replaced or enforced. Will be rebuilding jackshaft and building new axles so will be looking for wheel replacement and using old tires wheels for a trailer. How thick are new pucks. This machine came with a new 13 hp Honda engine. Want to make this into a game retrieving unit. Sure there will be a few more questions and enjoy looking at what other people are doing with there machines
