Best steel stock for new axles?

Considering making new axles for my ST/295. Have searched site and have seen recommendations for both 4130 Chromoly and 4140 stock. Which is the best to use for overall durability and longevity -- or is there a better material than those two?

I used 4140 for my terra tiger and they worked out really well.
