Hi, I'm pretty sure I've got a 400 Chief and came across a fuse box (left rear quarter panel) with 2 5A fuses like I've never seen before. What are they and what can they be replaced with? Can't insert any pics but they look like a piece of wood with bottle caps on both ends and a wire connecting the bottle caps

Hi, Brad;
You may be describing the voltage regulator some of the older machines used. Does it have a plug going to it with four wires?Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

Its a regulator, if the fuses are glass covered any auto parts store should still carry them. I can't remember if the are aga5 or agc5
the last letter has to do with length. If they are plastic with the fuse strip exposed generally called vw fuses by many though they are probably Bosch.sigpic
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

My Attex had one of those Bosch regulators for the original Rockwell engine. I think it had the yellow fuses in it which would be 5 amp. Most older European cars use those bullet style fuses, Volvo used them, my old Mercedes has them, etc.
When you buy replacements make sure you get ones with copper contacts, the cheap ones with aluminum contacts tend to corrode and lose connection.
