LOoking to upgrade engine in my st 400 attex have 92 18 horse briggs and stratton was thinking of honda 24 horse from northern tool. anybody do this engine yet in a attex .We cram three of us in it at a time use it everyday that it will run so need reliability and power. Tax time is comming new axle and engine chains and bearing.

I'm not positive but I remember something about Honda engines that didn't work the best for AATV applications I'm thinking it it was less low end torque to comparable engines. I.E I think they are designed for more constant rpm applications.
You might want to look into the briggs 23 hp commercial power engine it has good torque, reliability, its a bit cheaper and it comes with a 20/50 amp alternator

i think that motor would be a good choice hondas run forever we got machines at my work that had vtwin honda ohv engines with over 2400 hours on them and we beat the hell out of them too. you could probly check the actual specs on that motor and do a compare and contrast between that and a vanguard but i think it will have more than enough torque for your machine and probly last twice as long as a vanguard
