Can someone ID this Attex

[Need For Speed]

Hi- new guy here and picking up this little beauty tomorrow morning.

All I know is it has a JLO Rockwell 2 cycle engine, new axle bearings, 6 new wheels & tires & gas tank. Runs great. would like to know year and model? also I need to find replacement headlights

Nice Find! Numbers on the frame will tell year. What engine and what model is it. I cannot make out the name. Prolly around 1975.

That looks like a 1st generation Attex since it doesn't have the exhaust that exits on the right had side between the middle and rear wheels. Probably around 1969-1970. It most likely has a Baker Hill transmission too.

Hi:
The stickers on the front of the sides stated which Attex model, if they can't be read anymore, look closely at the plastic. The sticker should have protected the plastic from fading, and you may be able to still read the name.
I believe the headlights are T3 style, unless Gen1 Attexs are different, so if you can pop out an old one to compare, I would. Maybe a little work to find, I am hunting for replacements for mine too.

What you have there is an Attex 208/TT. It came with a Briggs single cylinder 4 stroke originally. Here is another 208/TT.

Cool, another 208/tt. That serial number on the frame rail identifing the year thing dont work for us. But with the baker hill trans it narrows it down to first production '68-'71. I dont think the 208 was made in '68 so I would say '69-'71. That is as close as I can guess. I do know attex used a weaker axle/sprocket design at first but they did change it early so I just say mine is a '70 because its the better design.

As long as you are carefull of what you hit you shouldnt have a problem. The ABS body is old and will crack pretty easily. The only thing I have had problems with is climbing logs. You will bottom out between the tires and crack the lower tub. So I have learned to go around them.. It can be repaired if you do crack it. There are a few differant threads on abs repairs. As far as the rest of the drive train goes I have had a bizare trans problem with the shifter but was easily fixed and dont think it would ever happen again. I do have new chains but have had no chains breaking. I have abuse it at times with pulling logs and old satetite dish full of guys and no problems. Pretty durable really. I have had to adjust and replace the brake and drive pucks or pads. I replaced with used and they seem to wear quickly and I need another set. I assume if I find some new ones or make new ones they will last longer because mine where old.

I almost forgot. I used to have alot of problems with the bolts that hold the hubs on and the bolt that holds the sprocket tubes on. Originally they where pins. I would snap them and the tires would come off.(see avatar) That was acctually funny because it fell off in the water and plopped up like a giant bobber. But all my holes where oblonged and I have fixed most if not all of them and havent had problems in a long time. I did buy some grade 8 bolts for the hubs because they where a pain to replace but still using the cheaper grades for the sprocket tubes. They are easier to replace and I like the fact that I have a shear bolt(weak link, fuse) that will break before something else, hopefully.

Funny you should mention the hub bolts, just broke one loose tonight playing around with the kids in the yard. guess it's time for a little maint/repair
