Hello I'm looking at these two brands. Is one better then the other.
Thanks. Tom.
IMO the attex is a far better machine. Colt should have a t20 trans I think and 1 inch axles. Kittys only have 3/4 I believe but hopefully someone else will chime in on this. A colt is an ABS body which is fairly tough but a poly machine later model is super tough.
Post pics if ya have and people can point out some helpful stuff
Good luck
The Amphicat is 1970 16hp Sachs engine
Attex Colt 1974 12hp Briggs and original 299 JLO Rockwell has baker hill trans. This one is a project. has not been run. new tires, rims, chains, and sprockets.
I'm with Dave on the opinion that a Colt would be a better choice, but if it's a Colt it came with a T20 transmission. If you post some pictures we'll be able to sort it out, most likely. The Colt came originally with a 252 JLO Rockwell single, which weren't very practical, but the Amphicat used several different transmissions and a couple of them were problematic.
Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.
(6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far
From what I'm reading on hear the Amphicat is out. The Attex is one that the guy was building and either can't finish or lost interest. He wants 1200.00 Not sure where he got the transmission. Most likely I'll keep looking. I'm 66 and I need a hobby. Told wife it was one of these or a racing go cart. This seams more practical. Also Ive wanted one of these since the mid 60s when I watched the Banana Splits. Working on them isn't a problem. Ive had several trail motor cycles. I have my own business manufacturing various fiberglass products. So I'm thinking this could be fun. Might even get the wife in it.

I think you will find most users in the sport to point you towards an Argo, Attex, Hustler or Max for your first machine, and depending on the user, not necessarily in that order. Mostly for parts availability either new or used, and knowledge of said models.
If you like the look of the Attex i believe Dave Phelps was considering selling one needing nothing reasonably.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
