I've put fuel in the plug hole and tryed either in carb and cylinder. I've worked on things like this for 35 years. Was an auto technician for 20 years. I know my way around a toolbox. Only thing unsure to me is points. I'm using a buzzer inline to check timing. Timed it 1 complete round plus .25 on dial indicator BTDC. I did replace the key switch early on. Is it possible I did something wrong there. I have spark during crank but could I be missing something there? Only other question in my mind is losing spark under compression. Spark plug always seems dry when I take it out though. Crankcase seems mostly dry

Did you try a little gas down the spark plug hole? If you have spark and the compression is good and you are sure the timing is correct, then I would say it's fuel. Try some fuel down the spark plug hole. Torque the plug back in and see what happens. You might get the spark plug a little too wet so if you pull it a couple of times and nothing happens, pull the plug and clean it off, then put it back in and try again.

Point breaker gap: .014-.018, I usually put mine about .017, I have found that it is easier to get the correct reading from the dial gauge.
Timing before TDC: .118-.138, I try to get somewhere in the middle (about .125) but anywhere in that range will work.
When I set the point gap I pull the cam off of the flywheel and set it with just the cam, that way I can get in there easily and make sure I have it adjusted correctly. The cam comes off by removing the three screws on the back.
When I set the timing with a gauge and timing light I use a drill bit to hold the advance. Just remember not to push the bit in too far because it will hit the stater. Just put it in enough to hold the advance in place.
When you adjust the timing, turn the flywheel a little past your timing point and then turn it back to the timing point. That way if there is any play in the engine you will will get a good reading.
Let me know how it goes.
