BTW You may have to snipe the frame corners from the second (t-20 st400ABS body) to third generation to fit the 3 rd gen poly body. If you can keep a full body price under a grand Id be interested. I have friends that built boats as a club project by sharing the materials and labor to build them. Maybe a club can be established if somebody knows how to build the mold and have the plastic formed.
Great ideas!! If a new die has to be made, why not make a few improvements. Some simple things like having the nosepiece made part of the body like on the older machines. And having a raised logo like Argo uses( http://www.6x6world.com/gallery/show...puser/221/sl/b ). If the Attex logo is trademarked we could make up our own.

My dad said to talk to the Gerber family if anyone has their info. He also said they used to make their body molds at one point in Latrobe, Pa.

        Hey JBF,

I was of the assumption that the corners on the ST series frames would fit without a problem. Perhaps I'm wrong. The frame in my current HDPE body fits fine (from a Thunder Chief) but, as you've pointed out, it does not have the square corners of the ST frame.

I guess we can investigate the possibility of improving upon the body design. My guess is that any changes would have to done for the lot.

i actually looked into doing this at one time. a couple years back i was in contact with *name removed by Mike* who acquired the old molds from richard at route6x6. perhaps he still has them...
he told me he had upper and lower, along with engine cover and floor board...

Andy, just a heads up to you and other folks here, that guy is someone you want to avoid at all costs and he has a lot of stories, but no facts to back up what he says. There are many rumors about where the molds are for Attex, but I'm not sure if anyone knows 100%.

I think it might be a good idea for everyone here to ask around and see if anyone has some friends or friends of friends that could point us in the right direction of how to go about this process of building bodies so this great idea that George has come up with can go forward. Oh and by the way, COUNT ME IN!!!

Well, Richard did have the molds at one point, and was going to produce bodies. He was asking for a $100.00 deposit from those who were interested, but never got enough interest. That was more then a few years back. Don't know if he still has the molds, or if he sold them. Maybe someone could give him a call? I'd be interested in one. If the price is right.

I got an education about the production process this evening.

If Richard has the molds or if they could be found, that would take out a big chunk of the cost of making new bodies.

There are alternatives to using the old molds but if they were available, that would be the cheapest way to go.

Colors are a possibility but custom colors would be much more expensive.

Joe, are you sure that RC had the molds at one point? These molds have a story behind them that has become a bit of an urban legend.

Anyway, it’s not as simple as throwing an existing body under the vacuum former. That could be done only after a good body was drawn and quartered….and that would just be the first step.

George you sure know how to start a new forum thread. I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight. I have a slightly used Chaparral engine. super Chief frame and sprockets .etc in need of a body in the basement. I keep reminding my wife this is a phase and will pass when I grow up.

                          Hey George,
Yeah, I talked to Richard back when he was going to produce bodies. He had the molds. I don't remember the conversation word for word, but he was only going to do it if got enough $100.00 deposits. I think the cost per body was somewhere around $1,200.00. Like I said. Don't know if he still has the molds.

Well, I guess the next step would be to determine if Richard still has the molds.

At the very least, we might be able to solve a mystery that has been the topic of some conversations at Ledges, Copper Ridge and the Humphry ride for close to a decade now.

If he has them, perhaps Richard would be willing to rent them for a limited production run.

Well, I was off the site for a few days, and look what I missed! I know this will take at least some months, so you can put me down for a body, I would go for top and bottom, and if you're doing hatch and floor pan I'd get a set. (I know there will be no screens/hinge/or anything besides the basic plastic part, but I know this is the only way to completely restore the Wolf.) If price allows, I would go for 2, but it really depends on price. If there is interest in other colors enough that it happens (I doubt it, but who knows?) I'd love to see black lower tubs, maybe ALL back? I think that would go well with the Attex body. Or red or blue tops to go with a black tub. A bright red/black combo or med blue/black may look nice as well, (or Maybe that mythical blue that maybe had been tested on a couple bodies)

Ahem. Ok, getting WAY ahead here.
So 1 Yellow body for sure
1 More if price/funds allow, possibly in black if can be done (And not rediculously high in extra cost)
