Thanks for keeping us posted on your machine. Looks like progress is being made.Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Keepin buisy on the build. Now tearing down and putting everything that's on paper onto the machine. Machine was cleaned out, ready for the overhaul.
Body needs attention, lotsa little cracks, and a few big repairs. Front left corner had a fiberglass and what looks like Marine-Tex repair. Now removed for an ABS Goop repair, which will then be strengthened on the inside.
Now have a Hydrolic setup, so Mechanical Brakes are officially out.
I have enough video for a feature-length movie, but no time to edit. I will be posting some "Best-Of the Making-Of Colt" Videos as I get them edited but work, Work on Colt and Sleep get top priority. Oh, I did get a celebrity guest worker.
OK, Not reallyBut the hat and glasses kinda reminded me of the Blues Bros. movies.

Must....finish......now!
Working too much, I'd quit but $$ seems necessary to build the racerProgress has been pretty steady, but sometimes a lot of work yields virtually no visible progress. The frame has been reinforced. I have a Jar of ABS-goo gettin ready to go on the tub, and I've been solving one issue after another. Now the fram is back in (For the moment) and the seat mount is finalized, just not its EXACT location. Making the mount hardly seemed like work....
But it came out quite nice, Like everything else on this machine, it's overbuilt. Any failures at speed and I'll have a very bad day.
Seat in and it looks good, like a rock, and height seems perfect.
Now with the motor and tranny sitting in it, tranny placement is final (I think) Motor will need a mount next, so I can finalize the seat mount. But the fit looks good. I think this motor was DESIGNED just for this purpose, I think it'll be perfect, just as long as it has enough power

Very nice! Its always so much fun watching the progress of a cool vintage machine come together. Glad to see it getting closer to completion. What's next on the agenda?"Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

No, I haven't given up. Been working all day, and all evening-most of the night on the racer. While many hurdles are overcome, there are a couple final obsticles to overcome before I can start trials. Motor is almost finalized, tranny just needs to be rebuilt. Working on the body now, and have a few more custom parts to make, then I just need to do finishing work and assembly. I do like how it looks, it's just killing me how slow progress has been, wanted to start it up this week, but every day puts me half a day more behind
Well, here's what I have, minus a body which is a work in progress.

Looks great 6x6, I see you are careful to edit the engine out of the photo. looks like a late model Ski Doo Clutch on the trans and engine. Lets see liquid cooling, late model Rotax, Big front brake calipers, Light weight ATTEX chassis, light weight driver = serious acceleration and speed. The Blackbird will seem like a Pig.Acta non verba

You're making great progress, John. I can't wait to see the beast go (and the inevitable drag races between you and JBF)! Nice machine.Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.
(6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far

OH, I think I'll have more Competition than just JBF, although JBF vs. JBF is inevitable, (My initials are J.B.F) Mad Max has something fast that he's saying even less about. H-Mike, Whipper, Don, George, Racer13, + more fast machines I don't know about, oh, this is gonna be FUN
Once motor is rebuilt, in and running, It'll be official, Untill that it's still just the hopefull.
