  • Attex 208TT motor

I am pretty new to this 6 wheel stuff and have only one post earlier this month and the info is great. I took it apart and am replacing what seems to be the entire ATV.

As the frame is getting ready for paint (i replaced axles, bearings, and inner frame rails) and of course the old 9HP briggs does not run and would like to upgrade to a new and larger motor. In reading these forumns I have seen an upgrade to a 16HP vanguard, does anyone know what is involved and what parts need to be changed, clutch, exhaust. I do have good mechanical abillity and can fab pretty much what is needed. I only want to do this once and freight is killing me.

I have also purchased inner and outer bearing and when recieving the exteriors they were not correct (they fit, just does not have the correct sealingflange to body)

Thank 6x6 world fo rall the great info

    Hello

I have seen 2 differant exhaust design. One with the exhaust coming through the body, straight back. The other I have only seen in a brochure and it goes up through a hole in the wire mesh in the engine hood. I dont think that was ever produced though. Either way your exhaust wont work. If you can fab it shouldnt be a problem. I didnt get the factory engine or clutch with my tt so Not sure how it is. The clutch will work if it mounts to the engine, 16 vanguard are 1" keyed shaft. Real common design so probably the same. I also had to remake my motor mount when I put my honda clone powermax engine in. Not sure if vanguards the same. My engine would mount but the pulley wouldnt line up. Had to move the engine to the right a couple inches. It was really easy though.

You say it didnt have the correct sealing flange? Do you mean mounting flange? What I did was use the same flange but replace the insert bearing. I reused the rubber axle seals but I need new one, I hear if you take one in napa has them. Havent done that yet to confirm it though.

      Thanks Larry,
So you mention that your TT has a honda clone power max in yours can you provide a picture of it. I priced a 16HP vanguard and about blew me out of my seat, being located out in the pacific they must think we are a 3rd world country, as freight is a killer, so am very open to options. Might be able to ship as baggage next time to the states (o yea we are the states) I am aware that I will need to fab some sort of exhaust as I would like to use the existing (original) outlet through the resr if possible.

The sealing flange that I was discussing with the exterior 3 bolt bearings, ther one that were originally on the vehicle had a complete circular flange that you could put a gasket on it and the ones I purchased have gaps that will be hard to seal

Looking for who the original manufacture was a where to find this

      Thanks again Larry

Here are some pictures. I have a differant hood on it. The stock one would work but the aircleaner and fuel tank hit. I plan on redoing it differantly so they dont hit and then I can use the stock 208tt wire mesh hood. I would have to have another fuel tank mounted up front like the other attex models or I can mount one in the rear somewhere. The aircleaner is very height but they do make an adapter to run a K&N style cleaner. I just have to get it.

On my exhaust I cut the stock manifold top off and added the elbow and welded a pipe thread end on it so I can use the lawnmower style hot dog muffler. Or straight water piping if you want, lol.
