  • GATES BELT model 6040

Well after months and months of searching and a great tip from JPSWIFT, I have finally at least located the dimensions of the factory size belt for the ATTEX 208 and 300D. BUFFALO BEARINGS is pulling the diiferent belt part numbers for manufactureres who cross reference with the GATES 6040. For now the dimensions are as follows: The Outer Circumferance is 43 and 7/16th inches and a Top Width of 15/16th inches. I hope this helps. Thanks again Jeff. Your a life saver.
Famous last words: I swear honey... I am just going to change the tranny fluid. I won't tear this one apart...

Closest I have found so far is 1626v428. It is 1" and is suppose to be 43" but numerically it labeled as 42.8? I bought it and I was able to make it work with shims in the driven. My custom motor mount is adjustable though. But worked good for me.

Bringing up an old thread, but I am in the same boat about finding a belt for my 300d project. The original Gates #6040 belt was still on the machine when I got it and it's still in decent reusable condition, but I picked up a (costly) Gates 1626v428 which I am debating the use of. I think I might end up going with the 6040 when I reassemble the machine, but just zip tie the other belt on the transmission but off to the side, which I have heard of people doing before to save from having to take the entire transmission out again just to change the belt?

Man, I sure wish they still made the 6040 belt, or that an entire box of them floating around the back room of some warehouse from 30 years ago would turn up online! That would be the easy solution!

Does the the gates 1626v428 work good or did you have to shim the motor some to get the belt tight?

Not sure yet, I am probably a few months away, if not longer, from putting the machine back together and actually seeing that belt on it. Compared side-by-side with the 6040, it looks pretty darn close. Gonna take a closer look tomorrow though to get a better idea.
