headlight replacement

    headlight replacement

    i spent today getting ready for the Busco ride next weekend, and while going over the machine, i noticed i have a headlight out. i was wondering if anyone knew the part # for a replacement (Attex ST 400). and also if anyone has any tips on getting the old one out and putting a new one in.

    1999 max 2 18 b&s 22 tires custom . new max iv 23 k 26 i/n tires brown . ht cable promark winch . new toy 1972 attex st400 400ccjlo and she will be bad .       george already sent a pm that he'd bring me one, but i'd like to have it fixed before i head out

          The best replacement I've found so far is the 35W bulb at Tractor Supply that's a utility light for farm equipment. The OEM was 18W and I have never been able to come up with any. If you heat the rubber grommet with a heat gun the bulb will pop out pretty easy, then you can remove the grommet and put it in a pan of hot water to install it.
          Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

          (6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far

            Hey R13,
            I just ran out and looked at my tt, I have H/L beams, 37.5/60 watts. One says h5006, other says 4000, dot h83. I looked at my st300 as there original and I couldnt read them.

              thanks guys. is it easier to reinstal from the inside, or the outside? also if i do the 35w bulb from TC should i do both and keep my good one as a spare? seems like double the wattage would be a lot brighter

                It's easier to remove and install from the inside: grommet in first from the inside or outside, then the bulb from the inside. As far as mixing them up, I don't think there'd be a problem either way. The 35W may be a little brighter if yours are original, but I'm not sure you'd notice it.

                  That was easy!

                  ok... that went way easier than i expected! the new bulb went in with no problem. only issue i had was that TC didn't have any bulbs that the original harness would plug into. rather than hack the harness in the machine, i just made 2 short jumper wires to plug it in. the blade connectors fit pretty tight, but i put a dab of silicone adhesive on each connection to keep them from coming loose
