The ABS / Polyethylene match works great as long as the ABS is the later type. The ST type body with three studs mounting the muffler doesn't match up with the later Poly bodies well.
You can take the sag out of a Poly body by suspending it from the belly band (seam where the two halves come together) and warming it with a heat gun. Keep the heat on the 90 degree angle where the body bends to curve over the tires. You have to play it by ear when you do this and not go too far- it can distort the shape too much if you're not careful. I've suspended the bodies outside on warm sunny days with good results as well.
Good Luck!Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

abs repair
I'm putting a abs body that I sliced and extended back together and have had good results with SMC resin. You should be able to find at auto body supply. I have been embedding metal mesh into the plastic and it seems the damage from heat makes smc stick even better. They make an smc panel adhesive that is thicker. the smc resin is similar to fiberglass resin but works better on plastic.
