    • Got the machine cranked up today and here is the results. Will add muffler tomorrow. Seat and harness are in and several other items completed. Still have a few items to go and then a test run. Thanks again Race!!!

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

          • Muffler? You don't need no stinkin muffler. That sounds great. It's really not fair though that you have your own personal mechanic.

Glad to help anyone out, plus they force me to eat lots of really good food over there. I'm bored to death right now, Just looking for an excuse to get out of the house. I suppose i need to make sure my machines are ready to go

              • Sounds great Lewis. It looks like you need a return spring on that throttle cable. Mabe bigger mains also. Can't wait to see it in person.

that's some pretty good cross country engine tuning! it's got return springs, but they aren't strong enough and it definitly needs a little jet work.

                      • Buy some bowl gaskets, too. It's a tiny rubber o ring thingy that seals the main well tubes also.

                        • Skid plate with a little humor.

Whipper sent me the skid plate for the COC. Was thrilled to get it,..... flipped it over and guess what? It happened again.

                            • Ok... what a rush since the April Busco ride. Worked everyday on the machine to get her ready for the Ashtabula race and with a little help from my friends i was able to pull it off. I did not even get to sit in the machine with the motor running until Ashtabula. This was a troubling factor.

Had throttle and clutch problems up to the day it left for Ash. Ordered a new throttle cable the Thursday before i was to leave for the races. The cable i was using was a little to short and was holding the throttle open and the new one had not arrived yet. Thursday of my departure at around 13:00 hrs. The UPS truck pulls up and back to work i went. Installed new cable and fixed clutch. Finishing the belt guard was in process and finished best i could with no seat in the machine.

Picked up u-haul trailer to haul machine to Ash. I would not fit in the trailer with the tires.. tried to find some small 5 lug trailer tires and this proved to be a dead end. So........i made some wheels out of composite board....they worked but were a &%$#@#$%^ to get the machine into and off the trailer. I am hoping no one got a picture of those on the machine but they probably did.

At the track we were installing and adjusting this, that and the other. Whipper and i drilled out the carb jets in the pit area to increase the performance. Still have a little work to do. Changed the clutch again......Whipper had a spare clutch which he volunteered , his machine used the one i removed at a later time in the weekend.

As i stated earlier i entered the machine into 3 races, she started all 3 and finished all 3.

I would like to thank all that had a hand into making the Carolina Orange Crush, i could not have made Ash without you guys. Here are a few pictures that George took of the machine while at the track.

Will post up video of the machines first lap around the track. Now if i can just learn to drive it
