  • Hood cutting for powermax?

How much will I have to cut this hood for my powermax? Or because of the warpage in the back, should I just cut the back off and rebuild using racing alluminum and expanded metal?

I could use the ABS from what I cut for Goop, Larry sent me a small piece but I think it will take more.

You know, the upper tub is cut already. The powermax engine might fit down low with it cut. If not and make a 208tt style mount you will need to cut the whole flat area off. I would normal go against it but since it cracked already, you have my go a head to slaughter it.

You can probably find some pictures of my setup in the photo gallery. But your exhaust is different coming out the left rear and it may work better down low if you can get it to fit.

        My 2 cents

I think I would try to save the hood since it is original and its not like you can buy another easily. I would try to fabricate an engine cover or look for one from another model before I broke out the saw. Just my thoughts.

Jay, it is pretty ragged, look at the lower left corner of the pic, see how it is curled up?

Larry, any insight on why the upper tub was cut? educated guess so to speak?

            cut outs....

Might have been cut out because it was easier to reach the carb that way?

Don't think so Amphiman1 The carbs in the front unless the engine was retrofitted

I bet they may have started a motor swap when you got it? Not sure though...

Getting a machine like that kinda sucks but really its cooler cuz you can cut and hack it more without feeling guilty. I ran it to that fun stuff with the body damaged st300d I had that is the project little lil truck.

I had an idea once of making a hood with piping on the bottom to fit in the channels. Plywood, steel plastic, aluminum, fiberglass, what ever. I had some pipe here that fit perfect in the groove. Just a thought.

You saw the pictures of when I got it, just like the PO got it at a farm auction years before.
