  • tensioner idea??????????????

Idea for a six chain attex--- was looking at a hustler tranny in the link and was wandering what you guys thought of a chain tensioner on the tranny. Trimming the fat off the tranny mount weld or bolt in place and leave it alone. Then all you would have to do is adjust your engine for the belt. I assume you would put the tensioner from the top pushing down on the chain. If this would work you might be able to use them elsewhere and no adjusting. I know it creates drag but it is s drag to adjust. STUPID OR NOT GIVE ME YOUR THOUGHT THEY HAVE THEM 80# 120#UP TO 240# PRESSURE AND MORE http://www.6x6world.com/gallery/show...hifter/cat/619

    Tensioners

I don't know about Attex, but I would say that if something of that nature would work, I would suggest a plastic roller than a sprocket. Rollers are a little more forgiving on the chains. Someone else who is more familiar with an Attex should know. Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in on rollers.

The only thing that I can think of is in reverse, then tension would over power the adjuster, then the other side of chain would get loose. You would almost need one on each side I think.

You need a fixed adjustment either automatic or manual. You do not want the adjuster to allow the chain to go slack enough to jump over the sprockets and derail the chain. I tried a spring loaded tensioner once and had bad luck.

            tensioner

Just wandering what kinda pressure the tensioner had these tensioner go to 380 pounds. This is why i posted it i do not want to waste my money and i want to learn more. One of my main problems was i purchased tractor supply chain JUNK JUNK JUNK!!!! I got some Tsubaki chain on my christmas list now that i found a dealer fairly close $56 dollars 10FT THIS was the main problem i was dealing with at the philipsburg rodeo and i broke a axle and wrong inner bearings wich i did not know until i got another attex.

I think the second one will work but I would make the roller out of acetal wider than the chain with a 1/8" rim on the sides of the roller. There is no need for a bearing in the roller, the acetal spins on a bolt fine with no wear, just oil rarely or chain lube.I've used this for years on my buggy.I use a car valve spring in my tensioner as compression springs are more durable than spiral or tension springs.I also use another idea to stop the chain from riding off the sprocket if your interested.Again proven itself over many years on a machine that does 70mph.
