  • Brake Adjustments;

    Hey Folks; It's been awhile, back to working 2 jobs. So when I get to get on it's usually only long enough to see who's selling what. Anyway, I now have a question! What is the proper method for adjusting the pucks on a Baker Hill 7000? And exactly what am I looking for? Stick placement and such. Thanks again, Brian

    Hi Brian! I'd say that Larry W. is the 1st generation Attex expert and he'd be able to point you in the right direction. Hope all is well with you.

      Hey Brian,
      The trick to adjusting them is to have the drive and brake side equal on both sides and to where the sticks should be. You can have a tight setup but the if the brake side is adjusted to much your stick will be working in a more forward position or just the opposite. What I do is hold the stick to where I want neutral, then with a bit driver, turn the screws in on one side. When you feel pressure on it, move the stick in the proper direction and make sure its the adjuster is actually there and not just bound up. If its there tighten the othere adjuster and do the same, making sure the adjuster isnt bound and the pad is actually to the rotor. Then loosen one side of the caliper a bit. Do the same for the other side of the machine. Its really pretty easy. You dont have to use the allen in while tightening the jam nut either if you put pressure on the stick when turning the jam nut. (direction to pull depends on what side of the caliper)That way you can use a ratchet.
      Any other questions let me know.

        Hey Larry; Thanks for brake lesson! That's how it seemed to me , doesn't look like a terribly complicated system, but sometimes it good to ask someone who actually knows. It makes things easier w/ everything out on the floor, but at least the adjustments are done, and I'll do the final tweakin' next week when everything goes back together. Hey Jeff; I got the lower tub for the 300, 110% better than the original . We'll be up and runnin' in a couple of weeks. I know pictures!!! Thanks again Brian!

          Good to hear Brian! Do you think you might be able to make it to the races at Ashtabula? I'm working feverishly on that racer and I want you to see how I was able to use those parts you sold me to get a good machine together. Keep us updated on your rig and good luck with it.
