    Hi Jim,

The electric starters on the JLOs are a reasonably common item. If you can't get it repaired, someone will likely have a replacment for sale/trade here on the board. You can try posting in the "parts wanted" section if you end up needing one. Your carburetor is likely a Mikuni VM28, which is a very common item, and parts are readily available. Are you missing the idle air screw/needle, or the mixture needle in the throttle slide? I'll have to go back and look at the pictures, but do you have a functioning recoil starter on the machine still?

Mike I am missing the idle airscrew/needle. Yes I do have a functional recoil starter but darn I am lazy. I would rather hit a switch than pull my brains out. I know, I know no pain no gain. Thanks for your advise I really appriciate it. Jim G.

Hey everone with the help of 6x6johnny2strokes wiring diagram I was able to get the tank trainer to fire a couple of strokes last night. Now knowing that the engine runs gives me the boost I need to search for the starter and carb parts. Its really nice to know exactly where to go to get the best advise. I will post pictures once I start on the body repair.
Thanks again, and again 6x6 members Jimg

Cool to see another Attex 8x8 around. See, when I'm off the site I miss so much cool stuff. So there are a few members here with these guys now, I one day hope to join those ranks. Watching Mikes Big 5 thread and videos has me hooked, this thread will only make it worse.

                Hi Larry.
Thanks for asking. I started plastic welding some of the smaller cracks and learned a lesson on welders at the same time. The short of it buy a good quality welder and not one from Harbor Freight. I also had all day last Sunday to pull the axles and remove the chassis from the body. I plan on sandblasting and repainting the chassis in the next couple of days. The axle pull was like pulling teeth they had never been removed before and was rusted badly. After a whole can of Rust Buster I had to resort to heat and beat. The heat and beat method is not my favorite but was the only way that worked. Wow what a pain! The engine and tranny removal was very easy and overall this has been a fun project. Now about your project, I saw your trainer and wow you did great. Good luck on your rebuild and thanks again for asking about mine.
                Take care Jim G.

Glad to hear another piece of AATV history is on it's way to being restored. Keep up the good work, a lot of the hard work is done now.
