  • Gas Tank fittings

Hey Folks; Have question about gas tank fittings on my st300. Has 2 barbs one is for the feed and nothing was attached to the other, what goes there? Where can I get one of the filters on the end of the line that goes into the tank? Second question is where do I get the pop rivets used to put on a poly skid plate? I found many kinds but don't know which is right. Thanks again to the knowing minds of 6x6 World! Thanks Again Brian

the fittings on the tank will depend on the carb you use. if you are running a carb with a float bowl (mikuni)then you will only need one of the fittings (the one with the tank pickup line). i take a short piece of line, run a 5/16 bolt in one end and stick the other end on the unused barb fitting to cap it off.
if you have a tillson carb, one barb fitting will be for your supply line, and the other for the return. the carb bassically uses what fuel it needs and sends the rest back up to the tank.
fot the screen in the tank (and this is just my opinion)... i remove them. it is a pain in the rear item to change and clogs easily. i run a good clear fuel filter in line somewhere where i can see it. just remember that if you do remove the screen, you will need to add some weight to the end of the pickup line to keep it somewhere near the bottom of the tank. i just take a nut that will fit snugly over the line and thread it on about an inch.

Racer-one3; Thanks for the input that sounds good to me! I have a Tillotson carb on a JLO 295R motor in my st300d. The carb has 2 lines 1 for the feed the other seems to tuck into the motor somehow do you know where this is possibly going I don't see it coming out anywhere? Thanks again Brian !

the line going to the engine should be the pulse line to work the diaphram pump in the carb. it works off changes in crank case pressure to actuate the pump. i haven't messed with a tillotson in a long time... i think it should have one more fitting for a return line to the tank but i'm not 100% sure on that. hopefully someone else will chime in. does your carb have any numbers on it? the 193 Tilly on my Rokon doesn't have a return... now i'm starting to confuse myself
