H Mike,
I would love to see yours there and compare the 2 machines side by side. Talk to you about your mods in person. I wish I would have had another month or so on mine so I could get it all pretty. I think just driving the ugly beast around would be fun enough for now though! I have been working a lot("income" work, not "fun" work) and at this rate I may have to get sick so I can work more on the AMTT.("fun" work not "income" work)
(I got sick of typing attex military tank trainer so I made it AMTT. You see, I dont have a cool name like big 5!)
Well Larry, THAT'S why you need to give it a name! ALL the cool machines have some sorta name! How about,... THE WHITE PIGEON!?
You could always just call it "the tank" for now; that's what I do with 5. The only reason she's called Big 5 is because she's big, and it had the number 5 painted on it. Not a whole lot of imagination there.
If your Tank's up and running well at Ash, we'll have to have our own racing class. It'll be more like a military engagment than a race, though. I know; we'll reencact The Battle of Kursk! Since I suggested it, I get to be the Soviets.
To the West!

Reason: man, I go overboard on this stuff sometimes....
HydroMike,
The name "white pigeon" is 2 long and a red and green thing with the name of white is just confusing and reminds me of the colder holiday season. lol I keep calling it a 6 wheeler but my son keeps reminding me its not. Like I tell my wife" I have to go out and work on the 6 wheeler" My son says, "Its not a 6 wheeler!!!" He is so technical, lol. Hard habit to break I guess.
As for my progress update, I got the motor mounted in and started it up for a second or 2. Man does it rev quick. Maybe it just sounds like that because I only have 4" of exhaust on it. I have most of the wiring figured out. My volt guage isnt working but lights all do. Starter does off switch. Only thing left is engine shut down and charging.
I do have 2 main things stopping me right now from driving it at the moment.
1- I went shopping for goodies and had 10ft fuel line in hand. Decided I didnt need it and I will just get it when I do. So now, 30min later I realize the crappy line on it is cracked and rotten. Fuel leaked everywhere. So........Darn it!!!!
2- Exhaust. I cant bend a pipe that sharp without kinking it. I hunted high and low for some metal tubing with a bend already in it. I might just have to rig it for now to go to Ashtabula. I could fix it better later.
I wanted to at least drive it today but maybe tomorrow.
Larry, the exhaust outlet on the tecumseh should be threaded internally for 1" pipe. you can buy short lengths of pipe at lowes and elbows for your bends. not ideal for an exhaust, but it might get you by till after Ashtabula. just don't buy galvanized pipe (fumes from that stuff burning off will kill you quick) and use lots of anti seize on the connections so you can get it apart later.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Great news, everyone......there will be two Attex 8x8 tank trainers at Ashtabula! After Hydromike and I got done putting all of the finishing touches on my racer I went and bought my new tandem axle trailer. It is almost 8 feet wide and just over 16 feet long. This will be enough space to fit my Thunderchief racer and Wild Wolf and Mike's 8x8. A few of us Buffalo, NY area folks will be convoying down I-90 to Ashtabula on Thursday, so we'll see everyone then!
"Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

You are right race! But mine are stripped. There is also 2 threaded holes in the head for a flange style mount. It had a bolt broke off in there so I drill and retapped. I made a flange with about 4" of pipe on it. I could weld a female adapter to that and go water pipe again. Good Idea on the anti seize. We will see what I come up with tomorrow. Might be rigged to get by but we will see.
