I have always wanted to own a 6x6 and today a friend of mine told me his brother had one in his backyard. I went and looked at it, thinking it would be a Max or Argo, but turned out to be an orange, 2 seater Attex. The body and plastic seats/ engine cover look to be in very good condition, but the motor, trans and exhaust are missing. It has 2 rimmed tires on the rear and 4 different looking Firestone tires on the front. They look like the rim is incorporated into the tire. Three of the tires need to be replaced. The inside and chains looked pretty good, minimal rust. I also noticed what looked like a gas pedal on the floor and a circular hole on the lower right side between the rear and middle tire (exhaust port?). Does anyone know what model this may be and is $50 a good deal? What would it take to get it running again? Thanks.

$50 sounds like a very good deal for what is there. if the 4 balloon tires are in ok shape, they will bring $50 (each) on ebay. if it's orange, then it is a 76 and that's a poly body. if you don't end up rebuilding and aren't too far away, i'll buy the body from you. for your other question, it will take a good bit of coin to get it going. T-20 trans isn't cheap... you can sometimes find them on ebay $400-$600. engine is a matter of prefrence. a good used 18 briggs goes for another $500 to $900. then you will need clutches. i'm sure it will need some bearings and chains replaced... you will also want to put standard hubs on the 4 front axles and regular wheels/ tires. i went cheap on my attex and still have $350 in tires alone. I'd say your probably looking around $2000-$2500 and a lot of work to make your $50 machine into a good mechanically solid runner. most all my machines start as a basket case (but i try to find complete machines to start with), however in my opinion the rewards of making a basket case into a nice machine are well worth it. it just depends if you want something you can be driving soon or if you want a project.A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Thanks for the information. I am on the fence about whether the buy it or not. I wanted something that I get get running pretty easily. I was hoping there was at least a trans in it. The owner lives here in southern california, if anyone is interested in it, i could get him in touch with you.

it will depend on how mechanically inclined you are and if you catch some lucky breaks.... the tranys are the tough part. there aren't a lot of people with a spare T-20 laying around that they are willing to part with (it's taken me 4 years to get a spare built, and with 4 machines in my fleet running the t-20, i'd be hard pressed to sell my spare). like i said, if the balloon tires are in ok shape you should be able to make money. i hate to see any machine parted out, but it seems this one has already been picked of the most valuable parts (G50b engine and T-20 Trans). you are way to far away away for it to be an easy pick up, but if you wanted to get it and part it out, i would still buy the body (if shipping wasn't too terrible). you could make a little cash to put toward a more complete machine.Last edited by racerone3; 10-12-2010, 03:52 PM.A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
