you will bend the 1" axles every now and then... I bend mine pretty often, but I tend to drive it like a rental. I build my axles from 4140 (about $100 makes 8 axles) and I literally carry a bucket full of spares when we go on a big ride. they can be straightened a few times before you have to replace. I have an axle change down to less than 20 minutes in the field with no power tools. with a little work and $$ you can also upgrade to 1-1/4" splined axles from Whipper (site member) the frames are plenty strong unless you plan to do inverted areal maneuvers. in that case you will need to beef up the front frame rail that runs side to side, and the front cross tubes.
all in all the attex is a tough little machine. I beat the crap out of mine and it never lets me down. you will often see me limp in from a ride with a bent axle or 3, but she always gets me home and that's the attitude I tend to ride with... beat the crap out of it, and fix it when we get home!
in the attached pic, I bent 5 axles and broke one in a matter of about 35 minutes, but I was driving like an absolute idiot! It took about an hour to change the RR axle and straighten the rest.

It would really be a shame to drive yours that way L.D. It is too nice. If you want to beat up on something buy a newer machine that is replacable. I did. I have the sears sportster, and after a few potentially devistating mishaps, I'm now driving around in a 90something MaxII. If I kill it, I can replace it easy enough. It's only money(and alot of grumbling from the wife).

the axles are solid 1". you will clip a tree at some point, hit a rut just wrong at some point, get some air at some point (even if you didn't mean to). any axle can be bent... I killed one of the 1-1/4" axles in my argo, my wife bends axles in her max on a fairly regular basis, one of the 1-3/16 axles in my hustler is bent right now, and I have no idea how i did it. bent axles are just part of the game, but it's really not that big of a deal.A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

A 1" solid axle is literally a piece of steel with 2 holes drilled in it, 1 for the wheel hub and 1 for the gear hub. They are as cheap as the steel you use to make it. Even without a decent drill press, I've been making my own. Its really not a big deal at all. Whatever you do, don't order them from any business that stocks/sells them on a regular basis. Either make your own or have a local shop make you up a bunch.l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!
