Awesome! It even looks like all of the axles are straight! That cage actually looks pretty cool on it. It would be neat if you could whack a little height of it (my opinion), but it still looks wicked cool. Other than some cracks and holes, it seems like it's mechanically a pretty sound machine. I'll swing by the Army Surplus store sometime-here-soon and pick up a helmet liner. What size is your noggin?

I remember the first time 5 moved under her own power. I took a spin around the yard quick, and tried to wrap my head around the fact that there was another set of axles way back there.

It looks great. Congrats again, buddy....

Two days ago the motors a mess, the trannys a mess, the bodies a mess, a sprockets a mess..... Yesterday, doing laps around the front yard. I think I'm beginning to grasp the concept of Scanlon-speed. I'm looking forward to the finished rebuild, Thursday? Friday?

Far from done! I got the old laterals out of the tubes today and built new ones. Got a working throttle in the machine, replaced the shift pin and got a LITTLE more adjustment out of the T-20. All the chains are stretched well beyond the limit of the adjusters and I don't have enough new chain to even bother starting on that project. It clicks, squeaks, squeals, bangs, pops, and makes about any other bad noise you can imagine, but It does run and drive.

The approach with this machine will be a little slower than most that come to live here. I plan to fix everything I can with parts I have laying around, and build anything I can now, so it's less to fabricate later on, but the budget for this machine is in the negative $1200 range right now. The full Scanlon tear down/ rebuild will have to wait for a while... I'm always looking for good winter projects, but I probably won't be able to wait that long

                Tank Cam Footage

sounds like it's gonna fall apart at any second saw 15mph on the spedo briefly

Way to go Race! Driving the Avenger at Busco was a little practice for this machine. 8's drive a little Looooooonger.lol
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

NICE!! You're using a gopro? Mine sounds about the same unless you take the lense cap off, which is a PITA. I'm looking at drilling out where the mic is, and tapping for a large head screw with silicone o-ring so one screw can give good sound, and still be waterproofable quick.
Sorry about the Hi-Jack. Anyways, it looks great, I am assuming the noise I could here was the chains? Did you take out a link or half-link it?

The sound with the go pro is marginally better with the non-waterproof cover, but for what I do with it, I'd rather have bad sound than a messed up camera. I've only had it a few months, but I'm really happy with the video quality.

Chains, Idler Sprockets, Belt (the one that was in my racer when I got it) the roll cage rattling... you name it, and it's making awful noises. I'm probably going to take a link out of each chain, but haven't yet. I won't run the machine very much like that, so I'm not too worried about damaging sprockets any more than they already are.

...and a thumbs-up at the end! Lookin' good! 15-17 is about the maximum I've ever achieved out of 5. It looks like it maneuvers fairly well....

Are you going by the speedometer or a gps? I'm pretty sure I got mine to the 18-19 range on speedometer. Said to say its been to long. The old Tecumseh is just a spinnin though.

That was by the spedo. I didn't even bother with the GPS.

Got almost all the wiring done tonight. Just need to shorten a couple battery cables. would have gotten it done, but spent way too long chasing what turned out to be a bad solenoid. I'm scratching my head a bit on how the tail light works with no ground hooked up??? I have cut every old wire out of the machine, and had only hooked up a + wire to the light. I will still go back and hook in a ground...

I'm guessing a high iron content in the ABS.
