Biggest possible tires size on the chief?!...

    Thanks guys!

axle centers are equal on an attex. Measure the centerline of the front axle to center of the second. subtract about a 1/4" from that and that will be the max diameter you can fit. This might require heating and remolding the tub.... if you don't want to remold, remove a tire and measure from body to axle center... that would be your radius. multiply by 2 for diameter. again, you might want to subtract a little for clearance. this is not as simple of a question as it might seem though. first off, all 22-11-8 tires are not created equal... there might be huge descrepencies in the actual inflated diameter. tire pressure can also make a BIG difference (just 1 or 2 psi) another factor is the rim that you choose to mount the tire on. a 22-11-8 tire mounted on a rim less than 11 inches wide will get considerably taller. I had a set of 22-11-8 tires mounted on 8 inch wide rims, and they were 24.5++ tall.

Typically a 22" tire is a safe bet for an attex. I know some people (with a little work) getting the 25-12-9 Rawhide3's under an attex (NOT THE 25-11.5-9)

probably the reason that you haven't gotten replies is that there isn't a one size fits all reply... I have an attex in my fleet that (pre restoration)the body had sagged so badly that 22's were rubbing holes in it.

If I had to order tires for an Attex that I had never seen, I would probably go with 21's. that being said, my Wild Wolf is running 21's and has lots of room... till I cream an axle

I bought these last spring (online clearance sale)
They swim a little.......just a little, but at Ashtabula they proved how well they grip and throw mudIMG_0499.jpgIMG_0498.jpgIMG_0254.jpg
My other maxII with rawhide III's had a much harder time with this little bump.

Why would you stick with 20s? You can go for 22s on a Chief with no issues.

well, i was figuring on using a 7 inch wide rim, so i'd have to compensate for it expanding higher?

do you have a certain tire in mind? if so, chances are someone on here has some experience with that tire and can at least tell you if they run big or small. only you can determine if your body is sagged, or you have other issues that might cause fitment problems

FYI; This is the site I ordered from. The clearance inventory changes regularly......right now they have mudmax 26x12-12 for $70 with free shipping. Wish I could fit 26"ers
