You can't check DC out via the red wire. It needs to be hooked to battery + (excited) for the rectifer / regulator to work. That's why in my earlier post I mentioned watching voltage at the battery with EVERYTHING HOOKED UP.

I've used bridge rectifiers from Radio Shack or other supliers (work) that worked for me.
25A, 50V Full-Wave Bridge Rectifiers - RadioShack.com
The blocks I have used took spade wire terminals, I just bolted it down. The "~" tabs are where you hook the yellow wires (AC voltage) from the engine. "-_ goes to ground and "+" goes to the battery.
The snowmobile style "regulators" do not regulate, they are just rectifiers.

So, did some looking around, i cant seem to turn up a stator anywhere local by just walking in and buying it. So..i guess ill have to order one.
As for another test i was told to try, they mentioned checking for continuity between the 2 wires coming outta the stator. From wire to wire, not wire to ground. Can anyone verify this? i did this, and found that i have No continuity. I'm going to go out and see what my mower has and maybe go from there.

Pulled my flywheel today. Found the stator was "Siliconed" in several places. PO didnt install it correctly either, as wires we're routed in a manner in which they rubbed on flywheel, but didnt rub though. I found the correct path in which they should be routed, so ill do this once my stator arrives. (wednesday) now i need to do some magnet resarch. My taping measure said, (out loud..lol jk) 7/8" X 7/8" of an inch? so i need to look em up. unless my tape is a LIAR!I have officially caught the 6-wheel-sickness!!

A quick gander at the unfinished dash..
Well, As i stated, the briggs now charges as it should. And my Voltmeter is installed. I did not get a ammeter as i had earlier stated, but instead a volt meter..why you ask?..Cuz it was FREE and NEW. lol So easy decision i guess. hahaha.
dash.jpg
Ok, So in the above picture, You will See i focused on 3 main points tonight. My first objective was to get the Volt meter installed, and wired up. I did so by using the Light circuit for my power, and light in the guage. Only 2 wires on the factory ignition switch that were "Switched" at some point. By this i mean, they ahve a position IN the switch that turns them on and off. In the "Run" position, there is NO terminals that have power Fed to them. The power wire (red) and the Solenoid wire (blue) simply sit idle and un conncted untill turned to the "Start" position. so those we're outta the question. lol..unless i wanted to see how much voltage my starter was taking. haha. So, i simply Un-Taped all the wiring that was a factory option i guess? it was all neatly spliced and crimped into the harness and tucked in the Left side of the attex body. It contained 4 plugs for lights (optional guages i assume according to the brochures on here?) and a Yellow wire, and a black wire.
I needed 4 connections for the volt meter. First was the light which was 2 wires, and then the meter which was an additional 2 wires. So i decided to tie the black and yellow wires into my harness since i was not using them elsewhere. (note: i also disconnected them from the ignition so they didnt cause any voltage issue's there) That gave me a total of 3 points of electrical use. Tadah! I used the Black, Yellow, Green and White wires that were conveniently placed at the end of the harness, and powered up my meter. So..when the ignition is in the "Lights" position, my guage works, and my guage is also "lit up". Now...i came to a decision at this point to put my headlights and tail lights on a switch. so i didnt have to have them burning while my guage was functional. So i simply Cut the green wire that fed the lights, AFTER the ignition switch. I then wired a switch in series with those 2 wires, and Tadah, i was in business boys/gals! So let me regroup..lol, i now have a set of wires left under the dash that will have power at key on for another option that i may want/need in time.. and i now also have a set of wires, at the back of the machine, near the motor, for my disposal as well. ( i got a few different plans for those ones..Muhaha!)
Ok, so next on my list of explaining, is the rectangle hole i cut for my Winch button..pretty simple i guess, Its for my winch button. lol..(go figure?!) I did NOT care for the big bulky setup that came with it..so i tore the controller apart, and found a much smaller, and more compact switch/button. I then decided that i would put it where i wanted! I then started running wires and thats where tonights episode ends. haha. I looked at outside temp and seen it was already in the high 30's so i figured i'd better come get teh wood burner fired up! Its gonna be cold tonight folks! Hope everyone stays warm and enjoys my crazy little chapter book i wrote!
Till next time! Cya!!

Nothing to major along the lines of upgrades guys/gals....just my neato sticker i made at work, and a quick glance at my oil pressure guage i installed. I've been driving the attex on a nightly basis. Scouting the swamp for deer (which ive seen a bunch of doe so that is a plus) The poor plastic bottom body is taking a beating..lol Some of the cracks i repaired need repaired again, and im aquiring new gash's and Gouges each day. lol Dam...i wish my HDPE skid would have worked out. haha. I did talk to the neighbor, we're gonna get a sheet of aluminum rounded up and he's going to TIG weld me a skid plate for it. He's a pro at welding with tig and doing so on alluminum, so i have no worries on his part. I figure i'll attatch it via the axle bearing mounts. but i doubt this will all happen till later this winter when him and I both have little to do. Not to mention, once he finish's up machining and making some of the gun's he working on right now.
One future mod to look forward to is the my backup light that ive just about got finished. I Installed a "trigger" switch from a NOS setup my buddy once had. I simply bolted it to one of the mounting holes on the trans, and bent the bracket till it made contact with the heim joint when trans is in reverse. This will then kick on a backup light, allowing me to see just exactly WTF im about to back into/over. Very neato eh? lol No switch or nuttin, just stick it into "R" and tadah..Let there be light mah friendz!
As for my "rack thread" its on time out right now...dad took my welder bottle, drained it during work he was doing, got it refilled, and then never brought it back yet. i just spoke with him on the phone, and he plans on coming out saturday to do some work in my garage for a friend of his so then my rack thing can once again get started!
Thats about it folks!

attex is running good and doing everything i wanted it too. Rack is about done, all i need to do is get either a piece of wood for on the rack, or expanded metal..havent decided..nor do i really got a way to haul it once i do decide. lol ..but..on another note..as i drive it more and more, i keep damaging the botom of the tub..ive parked it, goo'ed it up, let it dry for days while applying small amounts of acetone as the body repair thread states. however, i still cannot seem to prevent breakage. As for my HDPE body skid, that failed misserably...and im close to just making a metal one for it...i was JUST out there laying on the ground looking at it and thinking about it..it seems like it should be feasable...however, a good deal of patience and thought will be involved no doubt. I guess only time will tell...things are kinda shaky here at home too...must be winter depression setting in for all of us..
Ill keep yinz up to date on what i decide to do.

Well..hunting season is here...time in the woods is limited unless its either on a sunday, or its Dark out. lol Not to mention its gettin damn cold at night now! so...i started my METAL skid plate build.. STarted it tonight actually. Bottom was "Cribbed" up against bottom of machine, i ground and cleaned all my metal at the rear and placed the rear protector in place, and threw a couple tac welds on it. Then removed cribs, dropped it down, slid it out, and started laying some good beads on it. Now that its in place, and fits like i want it, i need to do some trimming, grinding and then place it back up against body and clean, measure, and mark where i want the front protector to be.
Along this journey, and build process..i thought about one thing. (during the skid build brainstorming..) Once i get the front piece in place and marked N stuff....once i tac it..im screwed. LOL i cant pull it down and out enough to get to back side....so i'm wandering if i should get one of guys from work to come over for a bit some evening with their service truck so that once i tac it, i can strap the attex, and pick it up off the skid..lol
i ALSO thought about driving attex upto the neighbors house and using his alignment rack OR one of this other post style racks to pick attex up off of it then slid it outta way, and sit it back down... Either way, ill get it accomplished..just thinkin ahead of time.
ill keep everyone upto speed on process!
