I have a Tomahawk that I picked up a few months ago. I came with tracks. The wheels are 18". The axles appear to be standard. The wheel hubs have the 5-bolt setup (also appears to be original). There is no external muffler and the body was never cut for one. I believe it to be factory setup to run with tracks based on pictures I've seen here in the old brochures section. The tracks look just like the ones in the brochure but they do have “Argo” molded into the links.
I’m waiting for snow to put the tracks on.
Not sure how wide the tracks are but they appear to be the standard Argo size.
My tomahawk came with the same tracks as George's. I believe the rawhide 21's are what is needed to run them (or same size) I suppose you could always put a shorter tire on and take out a link or 2.
Thanks guys. So drew you made axles of the proper length right? Do you have extensions on yours george? Trying to figure out the clearance on the left side of the machine. I have the 3 lugs now and need to convert to 5 lug hubs. I was thinking between the adapters and maybe reforming the body an inch (around the clutch bulge)I might have enough clearance.?
I made the axles for my colt. I believe my tracks were a dealer option as a proper exhaust plug made of the correct poly was used and the exhaust has the same heat guard as Georges does. Our tomahawk bodies are poly with no axle extensions. they were not needed with the plastic agro tracks the machines came with. do you by chance have a roll bar/body band on your machine. this could cause body sag and prevent the tracks from fitting properly.
My Attex super chief came with the track option and like the above the tub was never cut for exhaust it has a canister type muffler on rear driver side the exits through the air intake grate on engine cover. Also has the 5 lug wheel extensions My tracks are also marked Argo. Tires are 18.5x9.5x8 I would like to go with a larger tire but if I use these tracks I have to stay with that size. I have pics up somewhere on here. Did Attex use Argo tracks as 3 of us with Attex machines with track options have Argo tracks?
I remember seeing an Attex with rubber tracks at duck camp. It was 1978 or 1979. They seemed huge at the time, but were probably 12" wide. I noted the machine had 5" factory extensions. The owner told me this was a factory option at the time. That machine made my worn out Terra Tiger look like a dinosaur. We went into the same swamp and the Attex left me in his blue smoke in no time.
