stock jlo vs brigs & straten

hi guys me agen i,m just get stared rebuilding my 1st 6x6 and I'm ?ing is it better just to convert my 295 now and save $ and troble and put in a B&S or someting else newer
I know my 295 jlo is a 20hp but what is a comparable 4 strok ? or how much is to much befor I start braking axals. I have a 13hp 4 strok kawaskiw is it to small

I pulled my 440 jlo out of mine and put a 16hp clone in and love it. Machine isn't that fast anymore but I like taking it out in the woods rather than racing around. The real question is what do you want to do with it?

I want to use it duck hunting and in the woods but the wife and grand kids want to play. I guss if I make it go slow the wife will let me spend the money to make it go faster

I put the 16hp B&S into my Chief, and i havent once "missed" my 440 duff. I still have top speed, but it takes longer to get there. As for Bottom end HP along with no smell and noise to deal with..i cant ask for more. lol

Go check out my thread duff, you may find some of the article to be of interest to you. Its called "Converting my Chief to a modern Machine" A handful of guys on the site converted their attex's to 4 strokes..and im pretty sure ALLLLL of them are happy with what they did. Amphibious Drew did his, he loves it. I know a couple others did too..but i forget exactly WHO did? I'm srue they'll chime in my friend.

Just some food for thought. There is a deal of work to be involved, and a small sum of money, but TO ME, it was worth it!
