How to remove the B.H. 7000 Transmission?

This weekend I kept going strong on my 300D project, since I havent been able to these last couple of weeks. Tonight, I found myself hung up trying to get the 7000 transmission out. I unbolted all 8 bolts, slipped the belt off of the disc, but need to remove the chains, I think, in order to finish taking it out. What is the best way to remove the chains? Is there a link in them that can be seperated or detached?

The best way to get it out is........Buy a 12 pack of India Pale Ale (IPA) and invite HydroMike over to help get rid of them ......Then casually scratch your head and mention that you can't figure it out.

Never had an attex so I can't help u with that but if the chain has to come off it will have a master link. Just push the clip off the side and the link will slide out hope this helps

That's a good one! If I did that, we would probably get the entire project done in no time!

I got to looking at the chains again and I think I found one of the master links. Ill have to try disassemble it tomorrow when I have better light. I did a little bit of googling and I got an image of the setup of a master link (another thing I have no experience/knowledge of working with since this is my first project). I think I should be all set with this now, thanks for the info guys!

I cant remember if it was an st300 or a scrambler I had once with no masterlinks. I think it was the scrambler. Looks like you found one though so hopefully your all set. But if not you can get a chain breaker and by a master link to put in it.

Yikes. After a few IPAs, my method of disassembling #40 chain quickly resorts to bolt cutters, not searching for elusive master links. If your chain is in reusable shape, it's better to dig around for them, I suppose.
