That's really cool!! I love the field radio strapped to the engine cover!

What is the AATV in the background of the first picture? It almost looks like a Hustler.

Good eye, Stonewall!!! I didn't even notice that. It sure is a Hustler! I remember reading through some Hustler literature a couple years ago and it said they even used them in the US Military. Sure enough, there's a Hustler! It looks to me like a poly body 900 model, early 1970's with the Kohler 440 2 stroke.......you can see how the exhaust exits between the two right rear wheels. Right in this brochure it says that the Hustler was used for a US Army combat simulator. It's the third paragraph up from the bottom on the left hand side.

            Man Oh Man!! Thanks!

Out of curiousity, I bought one that was once used in a fire department. It doesnt have the vin plate on the dash and there isnt any holes there. I dont think it ever did have one. It is not as beat up as the other Military Attex's. I was curious if you know if they sold some as fire and rescue vehicles?

Here is some pictures of it. The first 2 are some I actually found online of it from years ago. If I remember right I think Don showed me or sent me those pictures. It wasnt that nice when I purchased it. 3rd and 4th pictures is when I brought it home and last couple is what it looks like without the red paint. The red paint was flaking off and the plastic got sun dyed in spots making it look blotched in spots.

Wow, nice trainer Larry! That is in really nice shape. It is odd that it doesn't have the plates or at least holes for them. It makes you wonder if they did actually produce some of them for fire/rescue purposes. I would be willing to bet that they did to try and see if there would be a demand for them, but that's just my guess!

He (Howard) said that government agencies, fire, and rescue depts would purchase them thru the government. And they would be direct shipped to the end user.
But he would not be surprised if exceptions were made. He also said that a whole lot of tractor trailers full of engine and tranny parts went out to government supply depots all over the country.

                  Nice pictures, thanks for sharing!
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Way Cool, Bill! Gus and I bought three of the trainers from a guy in Indiana and there were boxes and boxes (and boxes) of parts that went with them. No whole engines, but probably enough NOS parts to build a couple. Great pictures- keep them coming!
Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

                    (6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far
