  • Is 13hp 4stroke going to be enough power to have FUN

    Hey yall,

Found a deal on a used honda 13hp water cooled 4stroke from a 38inch deck.

Is 13hp enough for an attex ?

    What was stock?

Have not been able to find a spec sheet on the motor yet for weight and so on but what do yall think ?

What model attex do you have?Attex came with 8,10,12,20,25,hp and so on.13hp should do good.what size shaft is on the honda motor. You would have to use a 4 stroke clutch.

I am sure you know enough to get a horizontal shaft. Most mowers and such are vertical. You probably know better and have found a mower with the right style output but I'd rather make an @ss of myself than you get an engine that won't work.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

My brother put a 13hp clone in his colt and it did good. I have a 16hp in my 208tt and we didnt actually ever race but they where real equal. We both run ours with the governor overridden. I had a 8hp in a st300 and a scrambler 1200 and both where not fast but still seem to have power to climb hills and such. If you found a deal on a 13hp, then get it. But check out the DuroMax 16hp with electric start on ebay. You can get them for $299 with free shipping.

the output is horozontal and 1 X 3 1/2 crankshaft It is $250 on CL so I may be ableto get it cheaper.

Is weight going to be an issue?

          Also being water cooled?

I guess I didn't know it was a liquid cooled twin motor. Never heard of them. Sounds neat though. I thought it was a gx390 style. I dont think weight will be so much an issue because the tomahawk used a beastly cast iron Tecumseh ohv160. I don't think it weights more then that. If it is heavy just make sure you have a good sturdy motor mount. Liquid cooling would be ok as long as you can route your radiator someone remotely because it may not work well mounted on the engine with space. If it wasn't a liquid cooled twin I would say you should jut get a new duromax 16 but that motor your talking about just sounds cool so it has a neat factor involved, lol.

OK im going to pull the trigger and get it. I think the cool factor would be awesome as well. Could someone send me the dimensions of the "engine bay" of a st300D.

My attex is in another state so I can not measure mine. I have a 7000 series trans as well So knowing the pully location of that would alos be handy.

Thanks guys. I will let you know how it goes.

              Stephen.

I cant help to much because my frame is out and my trans/engine isnt here to mock up. My other first gens are also not here. But it is 24" wide.
