Is any one going to Richards Relics?
If yes and you could pick up an Attex gasket set for me and bring it to either Astabula or Busco this year, I would appreciate it.

They wont mail them out due to the possible asbestos content, Federal laws.
    Thanks..ed

I never would have guessed you couldn't mail something with 'possible asbestos content'. If that stuff was as dangerous as the lawyers make it seem, both my grandpas would be dead.

To answer your question, I'm not going that way anytime soon that I know of. I don't want to get killed by your gaskets anyway

So, if the gaskets can't be shipped....How did Richard Clark get them?
Does he mine his own asbestos?

Perhaps it is just the US Postal Service that doesn't want them. Maybe UPS or FedEx would?

Sorry guys, but I believe that is just the way that R/R says he won't make any money on the sale. It IS legal to to ship asbestos products, but the quantity/amount is what is limited. And I am sure that a simple gasket kit does not exceed the limits. It probably boils down to the shipper "HE" chooses to use. (Which is also probably the cheapest............for him.) And he probably doesn't have the proper endorsements by the feds to ship it. JMO
It's all just nuts and bolts.

Haha, he won't let you stop by to purchase anything else so he can get you with his ridiculous handling charges, but he makes you come in to pick up a gasket. Is there not any other material that could be used. I shipped an old muffler guard that I am sure was made of asbestos without any problems. I just didn't advertise what I was shipping to the post office.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

Just another reason to NEVER do business with Richard Clark/Route6x6. Misleading buyers, and doing anything he can to make an extra buck off someone......that's so typical of him.

Every now and then I see negative stuff about richards. Well now I can see why .The product is sent to him like Jim said, and Drews point about not advertising ..Besides the asbestos gasket is being packaged, and if you are that concerned stick it in a plastic bag and seal it.. Wow!

You guys sure have a lot of opinions for having no facts. Richard chooses to not ship asbestos because he is a business and has a lot more liabilities than just one person shipping it one time. The asbestos product most likely came into his ownership just like every other new old stock product he has: he bought a big trailer load of random parts or entire brands rather than just having only that product shipped to him. Also, he is going out of his way to sell that product if it has to be picked up in person. Meeting a customer for such a small item when you don't have business hours and have many other obligations is a big hassle. It's much better to just ship when possible. Also, you assume a great liability with customers coming onto your property for business. If it is not a common practice to have customers on your property then there is no way liability coverage would be affordable or practical. This is the reason you can't go to his place to pick up parts under normal conditions.

Well said Brandon, the Richard bashing is really getting old. He has always been a help to me when I have needed something and I hope he continues to be resource for those of us that like to do restorations.

I've always found Richard to be expensive but very helpful. I have some friends here who will disagree with me about Richard but I've never had anything but good experiences.

He's not cheap but I've always found him to be honest.

I don't want to piss my friends off but at the same token, I don't want to be afraid to disagree or share my experiences.

Same here, George; I've dealt with RC quite a few times over the years and he's always been square with me. Yes, he charges top dollar but he's doing this as a business unlike most of us that do it for the fun of it. 'Hate to see you all by yourself on an island, George!
