We sell a lot of this at my auto parts store. People seem to like it. I don't believe it is an octane booster, but rather just an ethanol treatment, conditioner and stabilizer. Here is the link to Castles website:

I was told it was new. I wrote only what was on the bottle. (Octane booster).

The water contamination has been a big issue in all small engines. I had two 4 wheeler 1 chain saw and my Argo that were not running well. I spoke to all the small engine mechanics in my area and they all pointed their fingers toward the ethanol gas. I now use a gas additive called StarTron and I am very impressed with the results. All my performance problems were solved. I have switched to premium gas along with the fuel additive and I am sold on the results.

My father-in-law told me about StarTron before it was even out for the general public. He saw a demonstration of how it refreshed four year old gas. Said it looked like worms were crawling around in it. Not only does it refresh gas, but a lot of the small engine guys are using it to help clean carbs and other fuel systems. It's really saving the carbs from the higher ethanol levels in fuel. I'm using it in all my trimmers, chainsaws, and fun machines!

I use a Lucas treatment that's supposed to help with ethanol. Not sure if any of it works. But it can't hurt. I'll look I to these.

Seems like a great product... But will it work with old carb engine or only modern efi engine will benefit with it?

StarTron works with carbs and efi engines.

A few folks around me use 100LL AvGas. Airplane gas doesn't have any alcohol in it and it is a higher octane than even Premium car gas. It also has some lead in it. I use it in my Max II and my Big Red and riding mower. They all run great on it. Most small airports will sell it for non-aircraft use.

I just got some Ethanol free gas from my Country Mart "Co-op" So far I just used it in my presser washer and it starts and runs better. Its 92 octane and it looks and smells like gas...lol Cougar

2 or 3 years ago I bought a snowblower that hadn't been started in 3 years and had been stored full of gas the whole time. I put fresh gas in it but it ran like crap. The engine surged and then slowed constantly. A sure sign of a clogged jet. I put in a can of fuel system cleaner and ran it for a while and it made no difference. I was just about resigned to having to take the carb apart when I found something at Home Depot called Mechanic in a Bottle. It claimed to clean out any engine running or not. I followed the directions and put it in the tank, made sure the stuff made it into the carb and left it overnight to work its magic. The next day the problem was fixed. It also works as a stabilizer in gas. I now swear by it and put it in the chainsaw, splitter, and snowblower.

This is the first time I've seen a miracle additive that actually did what it claimed.

My reason for asking if it will work with old carb engine its because, I had a bad experience with ethanol. It damaged my carb diaphragm and even the engine it self. Also I noticed that the had become very sluggish and pings repeatedly.

I started using StarTron too in my gas too. My 23 hp briggs engine now seems to run cooler and run better too since I've been using it.

Have you ever used Seafoam? I use it with great results. Sounds like it does the same thing as what you're using. Seafoam cleans carbs, fuel tanks lines etc. You can add it directly to the gas, to the oil when you change it, and in the carb. The only thing is the cost, about 8.00 to 9.00 bucks per can.

I've used Seafoam, but didn't think it was formulated specifically for problems resulting from/associated with, ethanol use. I've got a can in the shop, will have to read the label again to see. I will however look into the other product also, any help/preventive that helps offset those problems is a plus.

If there are any science guys on here, refresh my memory... While taking physical science in high school, one of our experiments was "the boiling point of liquids" the liquid we boiled was moonshine, how cool is that!? If memory serves, the alcohol cooked off at precisely 100 deg c, water just over that, so to get pure alcohol, we had to repeat the process a couple times to be sure there was no water left in our result. Could that be the reason there is so many water related issues with ethanol, or is it the result of trying to mix two substances that don't want to mix in nature? Just wondering where the water comes from.

And yes we did get to drink all we wanted when we were seniors, if we took physics, and were over the legal drinking age of 18 at the time. Wasn't the BEST shine I ever drank, for sure...
