  • Water keeps leaking

How do you keep water out of the 6x6 where the wheel connects on the outside. It keep leaking in and almost sinking it. Where the axel goes to the outside to connect to the wheels that little hole. Any ideas how to stop it.

It sounds like you have some bad outer wheel bearings. Ensure that all of your wheel flange bolts are tight, and that your bearings are lubed. This will help but if your at a state of almost sinking, without a hole being in your tub and with the drain plugs in, it is almost safe to say that you need new outer wheel/axle bearings. When you inspect the bearings there should be no side to side or up and down play when you wiggle the axle or tire. If there is, then this is yet another indicator that you need new bearings. What type of machine do you have?

Look in the how-to section of the site at the Max axle replacement photos and video: How to replace axles on your 6x6 That details how a Max is sealed. After the Max in the video was finished, it didn't leak a drop.

Thanks I will. Hey how much would it cost to get 6 of those outer berrings also?

Are you running set screw lock or eccentric collar lock bearings? Are your bearings R3 tripple seal type bearings? Post a picture of your flanges and whether they are 3 or 4 bolt type, all this will help with sealing.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
            Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Just call Buffalo Bearings Inc. for the bearings. Site member Jpswift and many, many others have purchased their bearings from them and so have I! They deliver a great product at a really reasonable price. Besides, they know many of us there, and are aware of the type of bearings that we want and need. I would provide them the inside and outside diameter of your old bearing. I hope this helps!
