  • Track system for an amphib ?

Could this track system be used on all wheels of a 6x6 or 8x8 ? This might be great on an amphib for traction .

find mudbug3 ...must still be raining by you to have you inside searching the internet for these videos for all of us to enjoy watching

Talk about some high ground impact and not treading lightly eh?. Could be a problem if those paddles started rubbing up into the plastic tubs.

Yes ,,its been raining here hard off and on all day ,for both me and the 6x6 friend I was planning on riding with , this weekend . Times like this , I often stay on the computer most of the day killing time ,,visiting websites ,since I hate to go out on days like this , and hardly ever watch tv . I thought that using this track system on each wheel , might be better than just tires by themselves , plus they might swim also , by looking at the height of the cleats . The height of the cleats might cause rubbing against the tub as you mentioned . On a Max IV , you have more room for larger tires

If it were possible to put this track system on an amphib , it might work better with a separate track around the back and middle wheels , and one track around each front wheel . This track system is much more versatile than the Escargo tracks I think .

              Beeman ,

Yes you could , but the tread spacing and tread shape have a lot to do with water speed , traction , and the ability to shead mud . The Argo frontier tire has almost a straight across tread design , and it has been proven to swim well and shead mud easily . The Frontier tire is not 4-6 ply , and also , not 26 inches tall . I want a tire that is both durable , swims well , and muds great . That is hard to find in an ATV tire . If it were possible to buy a track system like this , it would give you several options . Running a track around each individual wheel , would not put the stress on the axles , compared to running the track around all of the wheels ,, front to rear . You could run this track around each wheel giving superior traction , plus fair water speed .

From watching those videos it is my point of view that these quad owners or alike are trying more and more to reach 6 wheeler status

they do make ag tires that have extremly large lugs and hard compounds in various designs that are far more aggressive then even the atv mud tires
