Anyone use Automotive Engine & Transmission

Has anyone ever taken the engine and transmission out of an AATV and replaced it with something like the Suzuki Swift engine with auto box? I know several use the engine coupled to the original Argo gear box but has it been tried using the Suzuki auto box with the driveshafts as idlers (jack shafts ?)

Wouldn't be much different to a centrifugal clutch using an auto transmission and should give a variable ratio transmission.
