  • Cheap suspension seat parts that work

I've been looking at threads to gain experience and i've noticed there are a BUNCH of threads with one idea or another regarding the lack of a comfortable seat.
My experience is in the drag racing realm and when my kids wanted a more comfortable seat on their go carts, i had lots of parts on hand. Ok, in all honesty i wanted a more comfortable ride for me when i was riding with them, lol.
Since i use big block chevy motors in my toys, i've got plenty of worn out valve springs. I used them inbetween the seat and frame to make a simple spring assisted seat to soften the blows a bit. The seat pressure of valve springs vary depending on the motor. Finding the right combination is as easy as knowing the weight of a driver/rider and finding a spring with a similar capacity.
Im sure most folks have a local mechanics shop or machine shop. Go talk to them and ask for old valve springs and i bet they will gladly give them away. They may be too worn out for the motor they came out of but they work great for this application. Many valve springs are dual spring designs which will add to their ability to provide seat comfort.
Its not high tech, nor is it expensive to buy. Primary cost is just your time and labor. Hope this helps someone.

I would be happy to do that but someone felt the need to cut the lock and take the go cart off my trailer one day. Never seen it since then

Yep, that's being polite for sure. I spent 6 months and close to $2500.00 making it the coolest go cart for my kids, just to have some sob take it. Goes to show that locks and chains are only for honest people. The chain links they cut with a bolt cutter was all that was left in the back of my truck. Pissed off was a very gentle term...

They don't even bother with bolt cutters over here now. Apparently liquid nitrogen is available in aerosol form to the trade, they just aquire this, freze the chain and tap it with a hammer. All nice and quiet and discreet.

Nothing's safe now and the police won't turn out over here for a burglary or robbery.
